that depends on alot of factors.... what kind of cam, how much stroke, what type of heads, etc.... a few more specifics will be needed for an estimate. I've seen a N/A 460 push 770HP and 820TQ, and as little as 220hp...

I would say that if it was build before '72 I'd say about 365HP and about 342 TQ. after '73 about 260HP, 240 TQ. but those are new numbers, so if your not doing a rebuild expect less than that

i want more trq anyhow i just want around 300-375/400hp tops? how hard would that be with not spending a ton? i want the higher trq. hp dont move the vehicle trq does.

im getting a new intake manifold, headers, etc? heads i dunno- shits expensive =]

decent heads for this without paying 1k is 650 = i paid 200 for the engine and tranny 80k before pulled.

you might need alot of work in that engine.....but sometimes you get lucky.

start with a rebuild kit with new rings, seals, pistons, and rods if they look really bad when u pull the oil pan. might also need a new crank shaft. Deck the heads put in new pushrods, springs, retainers and this engine might not be that bad. prolly have to spend another $1500-2k (had a 5.0L mustang engine rebuilt with labor for $2.2k and thats cuz we knew the guy. didnt need new rods or crank and had the sleves honed)

the 460 has allot of potential, but in stock form can be kind of a dog. Be very carefull when you remove the exhaust manifolds, have your tapset ready, the exhaust manifold bolts are notorious for snapping off in these engines. Your best bet, IMHO, would be to take the heads off, remove the oil pan and inspect the rotating assembly. If everything down there looks good to you, assuming you know what to look for, slap a new oil pan and gasket on, though while you have it exposed, might as well change the oil pump and all the seals and gaskets (haven't taken one apart in years, can't remember what's in them off the top of my head) if you're feeling adventurous, pull the bottom end apart, re-ring the pistons, maybe grab some forged rods if you have the $$, and reassemble using ARP fastners. (if you do tear it down this far, don't be shy and get the block hot tanked, make sure there is nothing wrong with it, and will make re-painting it easier/longer lasting) Yes, heads for these engine are really pricey, so if that not in your budget, either leave them alone or get the stock ones ported and polished. The biggest factor here I think would be to upgrade the camshaft, you don't have to go crazy but something I bit more agressive than stock, then make the adjustments to the valvetrain, wic, since you have it all apart, would be a good time to upgrade all those parts with more HD aftermarket stuff. Intake wise, I'm sure there is a nice upgrade from stock made by edelbrock that will be what your looking for and not too expensive. While your at it, replace your water pump since it off anyway, and go ahead and replace the timing chains or install timing gears, noisy or quiet. Carburator wise, as long as you haven't gone apeshit with the rest of the motor, a simple 4bbl 750cfm should do the trick. Also, there is no question you should install long tube headers. and a new dist. from MSD will also help you out.
