Car Situation--all in one thread

So I can't decide what to do, as you all know.

I would ideally like 2 cars, though I don't know IF I could afford that. I would like a fun car and a practical car.

Fun car = coupe, faster, ideally handles well (but I think one could make anything handle pretty well), could be convertible, don't really care what year as long as there is still aftermarket support for it and it's in good shape. I've been tossing around the idea of an older Miata, though every time I look at one or see somebody driving one I just can't get the thought of "chick car" out of my head. I really WISH I could afford an S2000 because if I could, I would JUMP on that in a heartbeat. I've been looking at pre-1993 Mustang GTs (am I right in calling those the fox bodies?) because, well, I've always liked Mustangs, and I can't afford and wouldn't want, from what I've been hearing, a new one and can't realistically do a collector. (Speaking of a Mustang, THIS (<---clicky) one looks absolutely beautiful). I've also been thinking about a Prelude, because they just look cool. The only downside is that they are FWD and it would be nice to have RWD, and a really powerful car. But I DO like being the underdog--the one that nobody expects to be fast. That one is a little more on the edge than a Miata or a Mustang.

Practical car = 4-dr if a car--wagon if a car--preferably 4WD/AWD either way, 2-dr with ext. cab if a truck, topper if a truck. Just something that will get me around well in the winter. I just moved further away from work and more in the country, and way up north here it snows quite a bit. Not sure how they take care of the streets, but with the few trees and lots of farm fields, I can see drifts happening. For a practical car also, gas mileage would be cool, but obviously with a truck gas mileage would only ever be OK and never great, so I'm coming to accept that.

I also keep thinking about what I should do with my car, put it back to stock and sell it? But that would cost money, but I would get some of that money back...

WHAT SHOULD I DO???

What would YOU do?

At least I'm leaning more towards one thing than another...

Well...the truck I'm looking at they're asking $4,850 for and the Mustang I was looking at I just realized they're asking over $6,000 OVER bluebook. WTF? No mods or anything, asking $9,500 and bluebook at EXCELLENT condition is $3,150!!! Man...wow...

My budget is, total, $200/mo. So 2 cars that total up to be under about $9,000 would be ideal I guess. I know it seems like you can't buy much for that, but my first car was $2,500, had 150,000 miles on it and lasted me for 3+ years with few problems. You never know what you can get for cheap.

Because the Foci is a slower economic car, most people are looking for something new and exciting. I personally am going to look into a Tc c(=/

haha well. I have an 89 ranger and 2000 focus zx3. But no spare money..im in college tho

costed me 6000 for both vechieles.

I dont think you can get two cars at the same time, unless u find a real cheap truck(i think truck is ur best bet) and its looking like you want to sell ur car but not sure. It just depends how much u can sell your car for i suppose

hmm, so you basically have the equity that's in the focus, plus $200 a month? gonna be hard to get 2 car loans that way. got any cash reserves? if not, i think that should be your first priority. drive the focus for another year, then do something with the $2500 you'll have saved.

The only problem I forsee with driving the Focus for a year is it has a WRAPPED, NON-COATED HEADER--driving that in the snow and salt will NOT be good for it at all. That's why I want to do something right away. Maybe I should sell the Focus right now and just get a truck. Rar...

buy a merkur xr4ti and put a couple grand into it and you will be very happy. and nobody would have a clue that you have a 300hp car for relatively cheap.
