Is it worth the cash?

I was just wonderin if its worth it to put money into my base focus sedan. I'm a high school kid makin about 1000 a month. Is it worth it to put money into my automatic...or should I just save my money and wait to get a different car?

do you have the zetec or the SPI engine?

whether or not it is worth it depends on what you want to do with your car. if you just want a fun daily driver, then of course its worth it. if you want to compete with vipers, dont bother with the focus unless you have some serious cash to drop, which it sounds like you dont.

check out the performance area on your specific engine for more info.

i'd save your money and wait. Learn to drive well with your car now and then buy something with money you have saved.

Even if it is an spi. It is worth modding. The spi responds well to mods. Just like the mods respond well to a zetec.

So are you saying that about the zetecs to? Hehe Ive only got intake exaust and spark plug wires. Im able to hang in there with stock zetecs. But as funds persist. Ill be taking it to the next level with more mods. Yeah out of the box the spi is the slowest. But that can easily be changed. Next mods are shorty headers tb, chip, udp.

Im saying Tom doesn't make a turbo and Vortech doesn't make a supercharger for the SPI the Zetec is slow stock (if you say its not your lieing to yourself) with a turbo a Zetec can be very fast but since there is no good choices of forced induction for the SPI I see no real point in modding you can get every bolt on possible and its still not gonna be fast only way to make it really fast is FI which I am afraid there is a lack of but thats just my opinion If you want to mod your SPI by all means go ahead but he asked how we feel and I feel he is better off saving the money and buying a differnt car

Here we go again....

SPI this ZETEC that.

They both are slow, but accept mods well.
As for the FI comment on SPI's....Here you go: The SPI is based off of the 1.6, 1.9, and 2.0 SOHC engines. This engine is PROVEN to hold a nice PSI and be a daily driver. Proof you ask: Try the Escort RS on the UK, the Escort GT turbo in the US, and the US EXP. I can get OEM and performance parts to convert the SPI to turbo with no sweat. Run an FMU and you're golden. There are a number of converted SPI's to turbo that just rip. Stock internals, mild headwork.

No dogging the ZETEC, I just hate to constantly hear the BS comparison. I have a modded SPI and I run with the SVT's , even though I have an automatic. I am putting together a turbo from readily available FORD parts, and other than minor engine work, I'll run it daily. We have a guy on FJ that kept upping the boost until it blew up. I don't recomend it, but it took 16 psi with no fuel management or intercooling before it popped.
