A little rant, my thoughts, what's yours?

Ok, so I was talking with this person at work the other day - yes I'm still thinking about this 2 days later - and they started bashing the focus saying how crappy of a resale value it has and I should have bought something that kept it's value longer.

1. Conversation ended there. As I just stated in another post, I don't argue with people who are ignorant about cars.

2. It's my damn money, why does that person care?

3. I couldn't care less about resale value personally. It's a car. These aren't supposed to be investments. By the time I get rid of this, if I get $500 for it, I'll be happy.

4. If someone was SO concerned about resale value and spending the least amount of money possible, why not just lease and give the car back every two years and not worry about it.

Ok, now what do you guys think?

well, they do have crappy resale... but that's why i got such a good deal on mine, why i plan on keeping it until it dies, and why i would buy another one in a heartbeat...

The resale on the cars is odd. if you buy new it is trash but once it hits a point in the used price it doesnt really budge that much. Usually around 4ish grand. Tell those kids to find you another car that handles like its on rails for 150% of the price of your car and they wont be able to. Resale value or not this car has a verrry good package of being well at everything for its cost.

I am really surprised that these cars don't hold their value more given the great reviews that they've received, but again, I don't care. Call me stupid or whatever, but till the day I die, I will never look at a car's resale value as a factor in my decision to buy one.

i agree, if i was deciding between 2 cars maybe, but not as the main reason to buy one. I would rather have a car that i like then one that is boring and is worth $1000 more in the end,

the svt has held its value quite well in my opinion .
the base model is another story tho. se and ses aren't too bad. look at the resale of a cavalier or neon once... now that sucks.
no small car holds resale very well domestic or foreign (bmw and audi excluded...lol)

I couldnt care less about the resale value of my car.......you know why........because I'm NEVER going to sell it. It would be pointless, plus its my first car, and I love it.

I didn't care about resale value when I bought my '93 Escort GT. I only got $850 in trade for it. Of course, that was five months ago after owning it for 14 years and putting over 181,000 miles on her.

Hell, I didn't even ask or check on Focus reasle value. There are more expensive cars out there that lose value a lot quicker than a Focus.

I'll have my Focus till it's dead.. This is my second one anyway. ( Had '03 sedan ) I don't care if it holds it's value. It's mine.. That's what matters.
