im gettin tired of fixing this dam car!

ok so i bought my focus in july of this year...and since then ive had to get the tranny mounts tightened up for some reason they came loose? check engine light came on...it was just a friggin fuel filter (paid 100 bucks to get it scanned for that!) and now i got in my car this morning to hear the powersteering pump whining! I looked under it at work and it seems to be a house or somthing leaking from the pump. It looks like a bitch to get to it....so im gonna have to take it to ford AGAIN. I like fords...but my fiance doesnt so much, and it just seems like we are havin alot more issues allready then the 97 honda civic we used to own.

I don't know what auto stores you have in BC, but there are several down here that will read and clear codes for free. Hope that helps. Advanced auto and autozone both do it around here.

Hopefully its just the hose end on the pump. Thats not too bad. Keep the pump filled and do not let it run dry.

^^^Exactly what I was going to say.

Most chains will read and scan codes for free. I know I've used and abused that little feature. I know where you are coming from though. Sometimes it seems like the car gods just don't like you.

On the plus side, none of the problems have been major. I would take it just to a local shop for the PS line (unless it's under some sort of warranty still), rather than always going back to the stealership.

ya i do have a warranty...just on drivetrain...(internal) so I think i will just take it to a local shop. Well i havnt yet found a shop that scans free here in bc canada. for the price of a diognostics scanner....is only 150 bucks. If i get another check engine light i will just get one of those.

The Xcal is a great choice. Code scanning and tuning. The only thing is that you have to look up the meaning of the code that it gives you online, whereas some of the other scanners will tell you what the problem is.

Everything you mentioned can be prevented with proper maintenance...

tightening bolts = free
fuel filter = $7
keeping your power steering fluid fresh and full so the pump isn't killing itself = $20

you sure do have it bad with this POS Ford.
