You guys help me decide what car would be better...

I accidentally posted this in the showroom.... please move to the general car chat

Ok so im saving up for a new car and i want to get something thats got a little more..... oomph to it. (has to be a V8) My limit is like 22K out the door... Im expecting 10K trade in for my car and im saving up 8-10K by july (when ill get a new car) so ill have a small loan that i would be able to pay off within 3-4 months.

My options that i have noticed are mainly between...

Ford Mustang... V8 with 300 horse
and
Pontiac GTO... V8 LS2 with 400 horse

The main problem...

Mustang i can get for 17-19K out the door...
GTO... 19-22K out the door.

And the GTO has had some problems with their suspension and i have read about a few other problems... bad seals, door alignment off.... seems like the car isnt fully reliable. The aftermarket for exterior isnt that great but its awesome for the engine...

The mustang has a great aftermarket and it seems like it would also be an amazing car to drive...

The main concern.... is the extra 1-3K worth the extra 100 horse? And the GTO is sooo uncommon so it would be a rarity on the road, but it was only produced for 3 years.

If you guys have any other imput for good cars (mainly fast and reliable) that are REALLY close or under 20K im all ears. I want to start learning more about the cars now so when i am actually looking for "the one" i know exactly what im looking for.

P.S. it has to get a minimum of 16 MPH cause i drive about 300 miles a week.

C5 corvette. You can get a pretty clean one in that price range. Fun Fun! If you can stand driving a Camaro they come with the same motor as the GTO (or a very similar motor).

I'm Ford biased...
but the engine in that GTO is really nice... if they had only made the car a little lighter...

i like ford....but as many other ford enthusiast wold agree there lacking in their game a little bit...obviously if i had the money id be all over the gt500...but in your case i might actually choose the GTO, just cause it is a rarity and i actually have a friend with one (350 tho) and it got some balls and then some.... a nice black, lowered (you always beef up the suspension) and with that LS2 it would be a very sleek mean car....haha tough choice man...personally id choose the mustang just cause ive been wanting one for ever so long, but since it seems like everyone else does too, my choice when i do get one is going to be like a 02' Cobra

I'd go for the Stang. The GTO doesn't feel reliable. Just my opinion.

Good luck finding the right car.
