About to buy a ZX3...

Hello all. Guess this is gonna be my introduction to FF.
I love the Foci and am about to buy one tomorrow. (hopefully)
Its an 03 ZX3 auto w/ 50,000.
Is there anything I need to lookinto in perticular before buying it?
Any notorious buggs or glithces that they should have fixed but didnt that I can look for?

It's that whole Buyer beware thing ya know? LOL
I'd like to walk back onto that lot with a better idea of what to expect and what I'm looking at then I did for the initial testdrive.
Thanks for any info. Otherwise I'll be hopefully posting up pics of my new ride in a day or two.

My thoermostat housing just cracked, apparently they're known to break. Go to the dealership and have them check the recalls/tsb's on your vin to make sure all of them have been performed.

agreed. i'd say pretty much any of the 02 or newer ones wont have TOO many issues. but like previously mentioned get the recalls or TSB's checked.

I have an Auto 03. I have only had two problems, both covered under warranty, and both happened around 45000. First was the transmition. The piston that changes the gears was going out. Then, my alternator went bad.

I would ask if the car has had any transmition work, and if not, when you take it for a test drive, it it kind of slugs between gears, don't buy it.

That being said, I would go for a manual over an automatic. They are boring and don't respond to modifications as well as a 5spd.

While I do truely love the manuals... this is a really good deal on a good car. I just got back from the dealer with it. I'm just taking it for an "Extended" testdrive for the afternoon to have my mechanic take a look at it.

So far the only thing I wish this car had was a manual.... and a sunroof but thats all right.
Im buying it so I can have a better fuel economic DD and park my BroncoII and start rebuilding it and building it up.
Thanks for the feedback!

and BTW, so far......

A Manual Would Be Alot Better, But The Only Problem I've Had With Mine Was The Themostat Housing. Great Car After 112,xxx Miles, You'll Like It!!!!!

Oh, Welcome To Ff

I have an 03 as well, only manual. I'm not sure if you prefer auto over manual, but I think it might be something to consider. The manuals are a blast to drive. I had my ignition switch lock up and my heater core go on me. That's about all I've had go wrong.

Don't try to take it off-road. You'll break your wheel bearings!
