Should I??

I am thinking about trading in my 2003 ZX3 for a 2004 ZX3 2.3 MTX. I owe $13800 and according to kbb.com the car is worth about $10K, would I be better off to keep my Z and pay it off? I got a card from the dealer where I bought my Focus and they are having $2500 rebates on the Focus. Or maybe find a 2002 - 2003 Z with the MTX?

The dealer will only give you around 8500. I have the ZX3 '03 Power Premium fully loaded with 18000 miles and they want to give me around 8500. Just pay your car off and buy a new SVT(orSVT replacement) around 2005. That's what I would do, after all 2004 and 2003 looks the same with just 0.3L difference which you prob. will not notice anything different.

i say you shouldnt

dont put yourself in more debt then you already are. that is just a bad idea. anything you owe on your old car above the trade in value usually gets added to the new loan. just pay off your car before you start a new loan.

I know I would encur negative equity if I did trade, and part of me wants to keep her and mod her.

and there is a big difference between the 2.0 and the 2.3. the 2.3 is quicker overall. but the debt is not worth it, if you mod your atx i hope it is all show and no go...

I would go for the 2.3L

It has more power stock, in case you want to keep it stock, and with just an intake people have run low 15's and with I/H/E and stock cams w/ adjustments (which are stated to be pretty mild) people are in the mid 14s. Either way I think we will see some high 13s from the Duratecs this summer.

Why all show and no go? I know some of you will say the ATX aint worth the money to mod it, and I dont much care for show Id rather have all go. Everybody has their opinion.

Keep the 03, there are plenty of mods for the zetec to make it fast.

you atx trans cannot handle much more torque than it produces stock, the mtx is built stronger for the idiots who dump the clutch.. so if you go for the go you are going to need to beef up your trans. thats why i would go for the show
