stick shift as a daily driver...?

Do you guys find it a pain to drive a stick car as a daily driver? I love driving manual cars and i would like to buy one soon but im afraid that i might hate it and be stuck with a 20K dollar car for the next 3-5 years that im sick of.

I am not perfect but im decent at driving stick... so i would learn and perfect my skills on the car. I just feel like im not driving my automatic car.... i feel like its driving me.

I do alot of driving (about 70 miles a day) and just wanted some opinions...

My car is a manual and while I don't drive that much I still feel that if I did the pain of the stop and go traffic is well worth the joy that I get on back roads and having control of the car.

Depends on your area.

4 of my 5 cars have been stick. So it's pretty much second nature to me. The only times I really don't like having a stick is in stop and go traffic. I mean real bumper to bumper, under 3mph kind of stuff. If it only lasts a minute or so, I'm fine with it, but there's been a few times when I got stuck in that kind of traffic for 2-3 hours straight and it was pure HELL.

Hi,

Having owned a number of vehicles, both auto and manual, I always come back to a manual simply for this reason alone;

Any trained monkey can aim a car with an auto...but the test of a man is driving a manual, taking off from a stop, on a hill, in driving freezing rain.

Also, I believe it's cruel and unusual punishment to a 4 cylinder car to put an auto tranny behind it. I'll say sorry now to all those who drive an auto....

Stop and go traffic sucks until you get used to it.

Driving a stick, isnt hard. its getting used to doing certain things.

I have had only one auto in my life and meh....I still shifted gears in it, lol. Stick or nothing - even my girlfriend feels the same way (gotta love it)

Find a large hill. Learn to hold it on a hill without a brake. Youll never worry about that again. :)
