where did it start?

i'm just wondering how people came into cars/motorsports?what sparked your interest? well for me it was my brother who used to take me out to the streetraces in a turbo firebird and he gave me my 1st car with a blown headgasket so i learned in a time of need to work on cars. And for me the point of inspiration that got me "into" the real scene was a late night of racing and losing thinking to myself damn that was fun regardless so post how you got to where you are....

First ticket I ever got was in the Firebird, 101 over the posted speed limit 55 mph. Lost my license for three years. I was testing the Pro-Performer Intake we had exchanged for the oem shaker hood scoop. Even had the cool letters "B U D" on it to match the paint... miss that car. Blame my parents for that ticket, racing school, what where they thinking?

* I would like to add I was young and had no idea a cop would sit half way down a closed stretch of freeway about 10 miles long. Me and some other cars moved the barricades so we could test our new toys, aaahhh the old big blocks...

I started as a kid loving hot wheels and my father was a motor head so he was always in the garage with a bunch of guys. I used to go to swap meets and the race track often. I'm only 18 but I learn more and more every day. I'm not afraid to tell people that I have no idea what they are talking about though. Chances are, they will explain and I will learn about it.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense. Its early and I posted this from my phone

for me it started with models when i was 9. since then i have went to car shows stuff increased my love for cars. but i guess what got me into car modding would have to be when i was about 13 or 14 and i believe it was a heavily modded eclipse or honda i saw (not riced out...it was done right) and to me sounded awesome. and since then i have loved cars, and car performance.

I started riding dirt bikes at 7. So I was always into something with a motor that was fun. I raced motorcycles heavily, they are cheaper and to a point faster than cars. My car fascination, though?

Don't laugh. I was 12

The movie Mad Max.. The sound of that blower !!! Then about 2 years later I went to a car show and saw several blown big blocks in person. That was it. Hooked for life. I own a roots supercharged mustang mostly because of that movie. LOL

Like a few others said I had tons of hotwheels growing up and just fell inlove with mustangs as a young boy. Just before I was able to drive my no exs dad had a 9second 66mustang he would let me sit in it and start it and rev it up. Used to watch him race and watch all the races with him and even work on it some. My neighbor also had an AMX that he was restoring in his garage and let me help him with that and from there it just took off.

Looking back at my days playing with hotwheels I dont think I ever thought I would be pulling a motor and building it up.
