Body shops are great!

I was recently cleaning my car and noticed my paint chipping on the back right side... chipping...

Nearly a year ago my dad was using my car, and a woman not paying any attention hit the rear passenger side of my car, knocking the door in, the rear quarter panel over, and the trunk out of line. My insurance ended up having to sue her so that they could put my car in the body shop. I should have gotten a big hint when I left the body shop that it was a horrible one, when I went to pick up my car they had forgotten to put my license plate back on, and they had forgotten to order a tire to replace the current one. Well, we got that lined out and took off.

Now, nearly a year later, when I found I had peeling and chipping paint, why I had it, instead of sanding, they just painted over clear coat and all. Thankfully I contacted my insurance company, who had a guarantee on the work for however long I owned the car, and it is going to the body shop within two weeks, I won't be going back to the previous one, mainly because I live in Tennessee now and not West Virginia. I plan to thoroughly inspect the car before I leave the body shop, and yes I plan to take before and after pictures for my records.

On another note, I'm getting my AEM air intake tomorrow, a new gas lid, and droppin' the foci 2 inches in the front and 2.2 in the back.

Thanks for listening to me complain lol, Jake.

Body shops are like dealers....most of them SUCK!!!
The last body shop I had any of my vehicles to got a real piece of my mind, expletives and all, because it did a HORRIBLE job, and then charged me DOUBLE what they estimated the job at. I went completely off on the guy.
There is one in Ohio just up the road from me that has an excellent reputation, you'll pay for it though. My car needs the hatch repaired around the glass where some rust has started, and I'll take it to this place because they will do it right, everyone tells me this.
Do Focuses rust anywhere else? My hatch is the only place I see any kind of rust, and I can tell it had been repaired before because it's obvious that the lazy assed shop that did it was too lazy to remove the Ford emblem, they taped over it. Then when they removed the tape it feathered the edge of the paint....looks like shit, but that's what you usually get.

This is why I recomend going to car shows. While you are there make some friends, hell make a bunch. Someone there is def a body guy, and there is always a mechanic or two hanging around. While our out, keep making friends till you know the following:
Auto body guy/gal
mechanic
plumber
electrician
carpenter
HVAC guy/gal
bartender (not from their work)
police officer
local politician with some authority
drug dealer
high ranking local gang/organised crime syndacate member
utility workers
people who work for your local cities and state
people who work in your field, just not with you

Why? Because if you make friends with these kinds of people, and they really like you, you get a few benefits from it: First off, you have quite a few friends, which is always nice, also, you will have many many different connections if you should ever find yourself in need of a favor. And when we do call on people for favours, sometime you need them from low places, sometime from high ones. The best case is to have several of each on hand only a phone call away. A very important life tactic my father taught me.
And no, obviously, you won't find all these people at car shows, but then again, you never know.

Not sure if it has rust anywhere else, I wanted to nip mine in the butt before i started getting rust. The body shop did the same thing to mine, but instead of taking the trim off my door, they masked it off, and now theres silver paint on them, so I figure I might redo them.
