Pontiac GTO....

was the car only made for 3 years?

When i search online i only see 2004-2006 for the car...

I am hoping to purchase one within the next year or two but it would suck if they aren't being made anymore...

It seems like the car would sell just as much as the beloved mustang because its just as cheap, and it has more ponies under the hood.

yea they stopped making them, im not sure about plan to bring it back in the enar future...they are super badass and contrary to everyone else, i tend to like the simple design. Try to find a used one with low miles...the 6.0's are NASTYYYYY~!

The LS1 GTO was pretty awesome, the LS2 was awesome-er. They catch a lot of flack, and while some of it is deserved, I tend to like them quite a bit. They're cheap, comfortable and capable. However, they suffer from a Focus-esque problem with an oddball wheel pattern and offset, and you need to reinvent the wheel to fit anything larger than a 265 under the rear.

They are alot better on gas than most people think. On the highway, you will see between 25 and 30 mpg pretty easily. The handling isn't that great on them, but they are pretty solid cars otherwise. The one thing that really impressed me was the interior styling (especially for a GM vehicle). When they came out, the interiors looked way better than the C5 corvettes IMO. Sales were horrible though, so you can find them dirt cheap. The second generation GTO had the 6.0 liter out of the C6 corvette with 400hp, the first gen had the LS1 5.7 with 345hp. You can find tons of aftermarket support for the LS1 and the LS2, and it shouldn't be too hard to improve the handling.

actually with the 6 spd, the mileage isn't too bad. They ride better then a bonneville as well. Awesome car. I just love the rear bumpers on the ones with the 6.0

Bad ass sleeper car!!! 6.0 are wicked, seems like they depreciate in value quite a bit b/c nobody really wants them. So if you are looking to buy u should get a good deal!

I'll be in the market for one probably this time next year. 6 speed manual with under 30k miles for somewhere around 18k out the door.would be perfect.

Drive trains are great, but dang they look lame! It's remarkably easy to confuse them with a Cobalt or something...very "blah" because they basically transplanted them from Australia (I believe).

Yes, in Australia its called the Holden Monaro. they race this car in the V8 supercars series... frekin' awesome racing action.... those guys are aggressive, it makes NASCAR look kinda lame. They race against the Australian Ford Falcons.
