building a "fast" focus

Hey guys, I'm planning on buying a new focus and i still have a few quick questions before i make the final decision and buy a focus. What would it take to build a "fast" focus. Something comparable in speed to a rsx type s or civic si. Im figureing 200 or so hp at the flywheel. I will keep the car basically stock with just the bolt-ons for the first few years then i plan on building the engine up more. Stronger internals, cams, and forced induction. So my questions are is it possible to build a focus with either the zetec or duratec 2.0 to be this fast. Also what kind of performance would i get with just bolt-ons and maybe a aftermarket cam and chip. I'm not looking to build a firebreathing speed demon just a decently quick car that can beat most of the stock imports and ricers in my area.

i think to get 200 hp you need forced induction. though i could be mistaken.

i have not heard anything about mods for the duratec.

for the zetec, you can make them quick, but i think the best way to go is the 2.3 pzev. from everything i have heard, they take to mods very well.

glance through some of the performance forums for more info.

Here here. there's no way you're going to make 200 horses with bolt-ons. No way at all. You want to make a Focus as fast as an RSX? Here's what you do. Take your Focus to a dealer, give him the keys, and a LOT more money, and get an RSX.

Good luck!

A stock Focus SVT will wax Civic SIs all day long. The fastest PZEV I've heard of ran a low 14. I believe that would be sufficient to spank RSXes.

I realize that bolt with bolt on's i won't be able to make 200 hp, I was just wondering what kind of performance I will be getting with the bolt ons and maybe a chip and cam. Also I have sort of found out that the focus is an expensive tuner car but I can afford it and like fords enough that i'm willing to deal with the extra cost. What I'm wondering is if its possible to make a reliable daily driven focus that will make between 200 and 250 hp, perferably with forced induction.

Alright that answers my question. I was expecting around 6-8 grand actually but 10 is definatly do-able. Thanks. Also, everyone says the focus is a fairly expensive car to mod, however from what i've found its really one of the only newer cars to mod in its price range. Just curious what else is out there that i could buy new and have decent potential.
