Saturn Ion Red-line

Read some stuff on it......SC at 205 hp and 200 ft/lb tq......that's pretty impressive.....I would buy it and make it a def sleeper with no spoiler or flashy stuff.......

Although the price is around $20,000.....sounds excessive...

Watcha think??

Peace..........

Take all the mechanical stuff and put it into a car that's not BUTT ugly and I would be interested. The ION has to be one of the least attractive cars Saturn has ever made. From what I have read it is right smack in SVT performance territory in terms of 0-60, 1/4 mile, and handling capabilities.

I looked at an ION when they first came out, at a new car show. The interior is easily the cheapest-looking I have seen in quite awhile; really, really cheesy looking, cheap plastics and crappy design. I didn't care for the center-mounted gauges, either.

Modified mag tested one of these things and gave it a poor rating. The length of the car and width is a major downfall when it comes to steering capabilities and weight. And as SVT4ME said, it looks like a$$.

Whoa, I was wrong about the times - the estimate from Saturn is six seconds flat for 0-60. Motor Trend said this about the car in the December 2003 issue:

"...our drive revealed a coupe similar in refinement to Ford's sophisticated SVT Focus."

That was a "First Drive" though, more time behind the wheel might change their minds. The same page that the Saturn is on also has a First Drive of the 2004 model year SRT-4 - it really highlights how retarded the Saturn looks when you look up at picture of the SRT-4 and think "hmm I guess that Neon isn't THAT ugly."

Yeah, the neon definitely wins the battle of looks with an ion, and everything else probably.

You want a piece of me?

I think the Saturn Ion RS is cool. I support cheap high performance vehicles. Regardless of how ugly it is, it's still aimed at a special market. Performance enthusiasts like us, right? People who will sacrifice comfort, styling, luxury, or whatever to go fast.
