Saw a Focus blow it's motor today

On my drive home from work, I was the second car back stopped at a red light at a pretty major intersection. The light going the other way turned yellow, and an older red Focus tried turning left. There was a big explosion and smoke started pouring out from under the hood. All the oil from the car was left sitting in the intersection, but the Focus was able to roll through the turn and off to the side of the road. It was a pretty crazy thing to see, I couldn't even imagine how mad I'd be if that ever happened to me.

all engines are different... ALL... just like their power outputs are different... yes they are all mass produced... but to say all fofo engines will only last 100k thats a lie... because some will go on and some will loose it before hitting 1k... but for the most part they will last quite a while...

03orangesvt layed down about 384whp on his turbo'd SVT motor... yeah its an SVT motor... but he also mentioned the miles on that motor were not easy at all...

i shift on a regular bassis of about 3,900 and sometimes play up to 4500 up to 5k...

if your engine eats dirt... its NOT that expensive to drop a new one in... esp. if its a stock one out of a wrecked car.

If you take normal care of your engine, even if you didn't take very good care its not very likely to happen. At least not like that. Especially not shifting at 2k. I drive pretty hard (not stupid) compared to a lot of people because I enjoy it and I doubt that would even happen to me if I were to keep my car until it was entirely useless. I might blow a head gasket or something eventually but it sounds like he blew a rod through the pan.

He (or previous owner) either didn't take good care of the motor at all or did some serious mods without making sure the rest of the motor was up to them.
