Small Communities Suck.

Dear all,

i have now had my car for more than a year but only started entering the world of modifications as recent as a month ago. i was always against mods cause most i assumed would destroy the car somehow. anywhos thanks to you guys and others i've come to realize that there is very decent stuff out there that wont take away from the cars clean looks but make it more sporty.

I installed the MBRP exhaust system (first time ever working on a car) and it was great!! not only am i really really happy with the end result, I was also stoked I was able to do the installment myself. included the fact that I had to cut the old pipe to get it out of the rear part.

well the thing with my exhaust is that although its not even that loud, it does get a huge amount of attention in my area. You see i live on a small island, a community of about 3000. only one major road connects the various parts of the island with the "cove" where the ferry terminal and all the small shops are located. Im a pretty sporty driver but there are also a lotta old poeple on the island that do not seem to be impressed with me.

I would have never guessed they are so annoyed by me that they had to write a letter to the editor in our local newspaper. It reads that several cove people are complaining about the quote "clever individuals" who chose to spend their hard earned money to buy modified exhausts for their passenger cars. I was totally shoked that such a complaint who come through the newspaper to me... i was kinda waiting for the local cop to show up and tell me hahaha.

anyways the article continues to read that they think my and a handful others cars are just too loud and they have asked to cops to pull us over to quote "put down the worst noise makers!"

NOW i am NOT a irresponcible guy who does burnouts or always punches it in the 'cove' but i do have to say that poeple here can't generally drive and the speed limit on the whole island is indeed 40!!

I know the cops can't do anything about our exhausts but i was just surprised at the low shot thru a newspaper article towards me.

SO last night I played a little song with my buddies 270 HP Jetta and my near stock Focus in front of the authors house!!! hahaha gotta love small island communities..

PS. my dad drives a 2007 SL500 on the island and regualrily does 100+ on our twisty roads and he's never had anyone complaining! its weird i think because he is known on the island and i am not....

that is all.

Their old and all they have time to do if find something to complain about. Trust me my father used to be city planner for a nearby city and the city would route half the angry seniors to him to deal with them. The news paper on the other hand deserves a corrective letter, write away. Like you said, the cops can't do anything about it, so don't worry about it.

I know my exhaust is loud, so I short shift until I get outside the gates (.....and then take off) to our community to avoid having the homeowner's association getting all over my ass.

Aaron, were sorry to be bugging you about your loud exhaust,
but we have a pretty good idea what a passenger-car is made
for, and it isn't sporty driving thoughout our belove-ed cove.

Get rid of the exhaust and please -- try to get some more sleep dear.

Signed, The Co\/e.

Write a letter saying that you are trying to keep blind people safe. If they can't hear the car, they can't get out of the way.
