Shelby Focus ???

I use to own a Dodge Shelby Charger (actually bought it new in 83) and it was one great little car, there were also the GLHS and such.

Now since Ford and Shelby kissed and made up, I was wonding hy there has been no talk on a Shelby tuned focus , bet we would get a proper turbo or supercharged car with that emblem on it

THAT would be awesome. Too bad the Focus is turning into Ford's ugly neglected stepchild, here in the U.S. at least. Ford doesn't seem to think Americans want any Ford other than the Mustang to actually have some cojones. I like the Mustang, but some other choices would be cool. Shelby Focus even has a nice ring to it.

That is a fairly good question but as written above, Ford guesses that once all our foci have died we'll step over to Mustang or some F150 truck or so. Not that these aren't nice cars but I don't really think that will be happening and I also think Ford couldn't care less. I guess we'll just have to look at pictures to satisfy our curiousity or move to Europe, LOL. Still a nice thought though.

That in a nutshell is it.

Ford will not build a car that will outrun the Mustang GT that is available to the general masses.

The Shelby GT500 and GT40 are priced well out of the realm of most people in the "Pony Car" market.

In Europe, gas is MUCH more expensive that it is here. Upwards to $5 per LITER (4 liters to a gallon). So, a V8 powered rear wheel drive sports car, even though priced reasonably pales when compared to cars like the Focus ST and the old RS. It is a gas hog by comparison. The mass market in Europe that is looking for performance is much more mindful of the fuel economy.

That and the fact that FWD + lots of Tq/HP = Torque Steer and Wheel Hop.

I wouldn't like it. Bad idea, imo. I'm a big Ford and Shelby guy but I wouldn't like to see a Shelby Focus. Look to goofy.

Yeah, in fact GM did the same thing back in 1984 with the Fiero. They had that OLDS four banger (forgot what it was called) that produced gobs of power with no weight and when mated to a Fiero, wooped all over the Corvette, so GM cancelled the program.

Are you kidding, what would look goofy about it? Shelby knows how to design a mean looking anything. Hell Shelby could make a Fuego look better than a Ferrari if he wanted to.

Now Roush, thats a group that made one goofy looking Foci.

what? shelby makes aluminum blocks and heads for the Cobra that can handle up 1800 Horsepower just imagen what they could do for the Focus.
