Any good tips on finding Cheap Insurance???

My policy will end by the end of the month, and I need to find a cheap insurance place that can insure my car.

The thing is my record isn't the best but I just want something cheap to get by with. I currently have Mercury...

Now I know some can recommend a few place and agent that can hook me up, which I really need (so please let me know via pm or in here)

But my main question is when getting quotes, they usually ask for any violations within the last 3 years or so... well as far as I remember I had a few tickets, but some of them don't show on my DMV record (i dunno y) but I already asked the DMV for a copy of my record. Will they go by the DMV record?

Also I drive a lot, but can I just tell them 12k miles a year? Or will they check the speedo?

I can't recommend a company, and I don't know about your odometer in California. I know in NY your mileage is recorded when the car is inspected, but as far as I know insurance companies don't have access to that (I could be wrong tho).

Two things will help, take a driver safety course, it should only last one day and in NY it takes three points off your license.
Second, raise your deductibles. If you have a $250 or $500 deductible and can afford it raise it to a grand. If you don't have a loan and the car doesn't have a lot of value drop the collision.
These things will save you some money no matter what company you go with...

If you're smart you won't f around with insurance or fib to get a lower rate. The minute something happens and you need coverage you could be SOL. Best bet buy from a reputable company/agent, buy just liability and take a higher deductable to bring you cost down. Also, as you get older, married etc...will bring down your rates.

Recommendation, try finding one that gives full coverage at a comprehensive rate.

Or just make a whole list of quotes and compare them one by one.

Lucky bastids. Try living in MA, where the state sets the rates, and no matter which ins company you chose (there are only three to chose from) you pay the same. On top of that, any and all offenses are held against you for 6 years. on top of that, somehow the best drivers are a step 9, why it doesn't start at 1 is beyond me. I'm a step 9, the guy who co owns my mustang with me is a step 32 (habitual offender). Care to guess who drives the mustang more often? lol.
