Smart....Fortwo

So lately i've been seeing a few of these little cars around and it got me wondering.

As silly as they are to look at I finding my self actually thinking about getting one.

Why not they are pretty cheap.....
Quote:
The smart fortwo pure will start under $12,000*, the smart fortwo passion coupe will start under $14,000* and the smart fortwo passion cabrio will start under $17,000*. Exact pricing will not be determined until late 2007
Good on gas and where regular is almost at $3.00 a gallon.....
Quote:
The vehicle is designed to achieve 40 plus mpg under normal driving conditions and current standards.
its small so you could park it just about anywhere you wanted......
Quote:
The smart fortwo is small on the outside and big on the inside.

The smart fortwo that will be available in the United States will be:
o 8.8 feet long (you can usually fit two smart fortwos in an average parking space!)
o 5.1 feet tall (the smart still has as much headroom as most luxury vehicles!)
o 5.1 feet wide (two six foot, five inch plus people can sit side by side with plenty of shoulder room to spare!)
And kind quick for what it is.....
Quote:
The top speed of the smart Fortwo is approximately 90 mph.
And with what Ford is doing to our focus one of these in the U.S. 08 is lookin pretty good to me. This lil thing is already in 36 other countries and apparently doing great.

If I do go for it I'm going after a black cabrio....I want a pet for my Foci.
I Mean Take it for what it is, cheap and good on gas!

Some pics...
Visit their site HERE It may be a little slow though.

gas at 3$ a gallon is irrevelent, dont they have a diesel CDI?
even though they are good on gas, you should do a lifetime cost analysis.

The fuel savings you get would not offset the added price of buying a smart as compared to say, a toyota Yaris.

$smart + $lifetime of diesel > $ Yaris + $lifetime of gas

I hate diesels so wouldn't buy a diesel. I dislike Toyota and currently want to get rid of my Rav4 so I wouldn't be looking on getting another capota.

Mainly considering this cause of the potential savings at the pump compared to my Foci. I haven't gotten into doing a cost analysis yet, this potential purchase is just a thought at the moment, nothing more than one more car that I am considering.
