SVT vs. CIVIC SI

okay so early I posted about whether the ZX3 is comparible to the SVT and found out how much better the SVT really is, Ive been spending a ton of time looking for one i could trade in for but also in the back of my mind was the civic si.

So i went to see how much it was and it was pretty comparable in price to the SVT so i just want to know stock for stock would the SVT win or the SI????

thanks again i know im a noob

If I have my facts down, the Si has more horsepower but less torque than the SVTF. However, VTEC is far more superior than Ford's VICT system or any valve timing system. If you drove the SVTF right, you might win but it would be close

And I believe it would be safe to say the SVTF would take the Civic in the turns

Are you talking about a the 8th generation with the K20 or an older Si?

Take them both for a test drive and see for yourself. Both are fun to drive and the SVTF doesn't have that much more torque than a newer Si but the Si has more HP. And no you don't have to rev the crap out of it just to get around town like I've read on a few Focus forums but it is fun to rev over 8K every once and a while

SVTF vs. SI same year or close and earlier, the SVT has no problems. Mine stock vs. 02/03 SI with atleast intake and exhaust was an easy win.

The new SI appears to be better in most ways - autocrossing they are pounding me. Granted I'm under-tired at the moment, but at a similar weight, power level and tire size, they have tighter gearing and a helical front LSD.

They also have a 10-times-nicer interior, +1 for Star Trek gauges, and they even sound alright from the factory. I approve of the new Si heartily.

I agree that the new Si is the nicer car by a fair shake, but if he's talking similar pricing then he's either looking at older, inferior Si's or he's thinking about really overpaying for an SVT...

OMG, how can you say something nice about the SI? There is a blood feud between SI owners and SVT owners. . .

Oh wait, you're being sensible, truthful and have personal experience with the new SIs.

Never mind.

Gotta admit that the new SIs are pretty sharp looking cars.

If you're taking about the older ones (prior to '06), it's rather surprising how much the SI and the SVT look alike. Similar body shape and dimensions, close on HP too. I looked at an '03 SI but the five speed and 15" wheels turned me away.
