noise ordinance

i posted this in the general chat so i could get responses from both zetec and duratec owners.....so, ive made up my mind on the f2 header....ill be ordering it next month somtime....now i know that different states and cities have different tollerances for the exhaust sound volume with the header install....ill be running it with my focus sport (sport option) cat back.....now ive heard of quite a few members getting fined for this.....i just want to hear some members "no problems in my area" or the horror stories that you have delt with due to the header install.....im a little nervous of my car being louder than it is already....but i want this mod.....i need the hp numbers and it does look way cool sitting there in the engine bay...lol.

p.s.....insight from members who are in oregon would be helpful.

you may want to consider an additional resonator. i know with the zetecs if you don't have more than one muffler (i.e. a muffler and a resonator) most flex-backs go from sounding good to weedwacker. i know that focussport will sell their "stealth" option separately from the kit for the zetec, you may want to look into that. i have a feeling that it won't sound very god in sport mode...

You might want to consider the resonator...trubendz will sell you a resonated section for about $60 if you send them the specs for your center section (pipe diameter and length from end to end.)

In my experience with the cops, exhaust sound level is a subjective issue just like your stereo being too loud or your tint being too dark; the cops will nail you if they want to and then its up to you to prove them wrong or pay the ticket. The quieter it is the better, my resonated Borla catback with a race header is tame enough that I've never been harrassed and if I stay off the gas is relatively quiet...I can't say the same for the non-resonated version with a race header.

I have an FR header and MBRP exhaust, I love the sound and never have a problem w/ law enforcement.
