How reliable is your Focus

Thinking about getting a used 2004 SVT Focus - all the reviews on the car kicked ass. Then I find the below web site
http://www.mycarwizard.com/vehicles/...s-zx5-svt.html

Crazy problems with key locking up or not starting. Also a few issues with brakes.

Do a similar search for BMW, Mercedes, Maybach, or Ferrari and you will find similar results- if not worse. The internet is a tricky place to research cars or anything really in terms of reviews because people tend to only take the time to write articles when they have a problem...which causes people to believe things are more troubled/problematic than they really are.

The Focus is a great car overall, and is quite reliable. Go grab one and call it a day

can't go wrong with an '04 svt...the focus has been, for over 85% of the members on this board i'd estimate, a fairly reliable car for todays standards... go for it

I'll be honest- while it's been reliable, it's not the highest quality. I have the squealing brake problem, and the owner before me had the locking ignition cylinder. It's also got AC problems, but I don't know exactly what those are caused by. However, I'd chalk most of these problems up to the previous owners and their lack of care instead of Ford. I'd go ahead and get the car, just take it to a mechanic first.

dont have an o2 sensor right now so car is runnin crappy. and after that the transmission doesnt feel the same. when you switch gears and let go of the clutch real fast the car suppose to jerk a lil but mine doesnt do that.

anybody know if thats the reason why the transmission is like that because of the o2 sensor???

not an SVT but hasn't done anything major, rear brakes squeal some times and little creaks here and there, that's about it for me
