Bluffing made easy

I was crusin' westhiemer ( the spot in houston) and I got down towards were there was alot of action around a big dogs choppers shop. So I pulled in and parked my zx3. Looking around I spotted a black svt with a huge intercooler sitting close by, and what looked like the driver walking my way. I figured you know we foci gotta stick together, and he was on his way to talk shop. NOOO he wanted to run me. I looked at his car and kinda chuckled. I did it because I knew my cold air and muffler couldn't stand a chance against his turbo. A friend of mine had given me a piece of advice a while back that if you think you stand no chance offer to go for slips. So I asked him if it was paid off. He said yes so I offered slips. He took me up on it. So continuing the bluff I unlock my car and open the door. As I'm getting in I call him back and tell him that I'll give him three and the move and beat him before I hit third. Alittle dumfounded he said no way you think you're that fast. I made no response but a smile. Now he looked a bit worried, he said can I see under the hood before we go. No I said and started to get in my car to go. He told me to wait, so I stood back up and leaned over my door, Your serious, he said. Yep said I. He walked back to his car very worried looking now. I got in mine trying to figure out what the hell I was gonna do. By now people had overheard our interaction and a large crowd had moved curb side. I got in my focus and pulled up to the line somebody had sprayed and revved my engine, but there was no svt next to me so I pulled to the side of the road and put my flashers on to wait. Watching my rearview mirror I saw a pair of focus lights going the other way. Someone in the crowd yelled he chickened out. So I turned off my flashers and returned triumphantly to my spot. Through the night four or five people challenged me but I turned them down, telling them I only race other focuses and if you want to know if I'd beat you I run a 16.8. Needless to say that last comment dispursed the crowd around my car mighty quick. So the moral, if you can't beat em bluff em.

Is that a true story? If so, it is hilarious. Have you considered what you would have done if he'd shown up? It kinda reminds about my agressive driving when I lived around NYC. BTW, if you don't drive that way in NYC, you're a hazard. Before I would cut into a lane, I'd check out the other car. If it was new or expensive, I knew I could cut in and they would back off right away. An old junker, look out, cause he'd be happy if you hit him to collect the insurance money.

yes it is a true story, and no I don't know what I'd have done if he'd have shown up. More than Likely I would have backed out at the last second. But thats not the point I got extremely lucky then and I probably won't make it to westhiemer again anytime soon. Somebody their probably knew the guy and told him I was bluffing and even though I'm a pretty big guy I don't want him to try and kick my bum.

If he decided to go you should just keep driving after you get smoked...Jesse style from the Fast and the Furious :)

Yes, that was a joke...don't start telling me how gay the movie was now.
