SVT is comin back

SVT Fusion And Edge On The Horizon
Posted May 19, 2006 02:57 PM by Tyler Whitemarsh.

After what had seemed to be the demise of a once dominant skunk works inside Ford, SVT is slowly rising from the ashes. With the release of the Shelby GT500 right around the corner and the promises of a second SVT vehicle based on a truck platform said to be following closely behind, Ford is promising that SVT will once again live up to its reputation as the premier in house tuning company amongst domestic brands.
SVT Fusion: For those who remember and loved the SVT Contour and Taurus SHO, Ford will once again enter the market of mid-sized sleepers with a specially tuned Ford Fusion. The rumors are already abound as to what will power the soon to be SVT sedan. Speculation of AWD and supercharged 3.5 Liter engines can be heard echoing from Dearborn to Los Angeles.

SVT Edge: Set to be the first Niche Crossover in the US, the SVT Edge will follow in the footsteps of the Ford Lightning. Having no competition in this market much in the same fashion that the Lightning was a stand alone niche that proved to spawn several competitiors. Expect to see Chrysler fire back with an SRT version of the Pacifica as the new Crossover market fights for its place in America's garages.

SVT never left, Ford allocated all of SVT's resources to the "new" Mustang and then further to the GT500.... if you start looking at any of the GT500's drivetrain components they have SVT stickers/plaquards all over them.

whoopdie-bloody-do if this does happen; im still waiting for ford to get off thier bloated high-horse (MUSTANG) and spend some money in the compact market, don't get me wrong; I have owned and currently still own mustangs, but do we really need another mid size performance vehicle from the Oval? (Mazda 6, Volvo S60R) seriously, AWD turbo Focus, how hard is that? I'm willing to pay more for an AWD turbo focus than i am for the next nearly 2ton land-yacht parading as a mid sized sedan. don't get me wrong here, The Lightning was a nice truck, but my 5.0 with 300hp ate my brothers 409hp lightning alive; likewise my Dads 05GT is a great car, but it approaches uselessness from the end of October until April. I also feel that if my focus were AWD and Turbo it would roast his mustang no matter what the conditions were. ok this was a rant; but i have a general dislike towards all domestic auto manufacturers business and engineering strategii. hmm gas prices are on the rise; lets market less efficient vehicles, they should sell well. hmm that focus (or taurus) is a popular and technologically advanced model, lets drop manufacturing quality and release an inferior product so we can make mean profits for two years and then fall back into the toilet. Once my focus sells I'm going japanese. theres my two cents.....maybe three.
