made a big bobo

i put a svt suspension on my car a month ago and i have made a few posts about poping sounds it make. well some said it could be the endlinks and some said it could be the springs upside down. well ataru (jason) and me today look at it and found the person who put it on put the spring seat on top upside down. what you guys think about and what would you do?

Fix it.

What exactly are you looking for? Do you want to break his kneecaps? You want him to buy you a new car?

If it didn't cause any damage, just let him fix it and move on. Mistakes happen.

Now, if it DID cause damage, I would want him to pay to get it fixed.

Seems pretty simple to me.

take it back to the installer, make him fix it, but go armed with the knowledge of exactly how it should be installed. (i.e. know as much as you would need to do the job yourself)

It's doubtful that there were any real problems cause by all of this, and I wouldn't worry a bit. If you are hesitant to take the car back to the person who did it, you can also do it with yourself and a friend if you have a jack, 2 jack stands, some wrenches and a good socket set.

Here's what you do:

Jack the car up, put it on jack-stands. (The entire rear in should be lifted, it's easier this way)
Remove the wheels and place them under the car so if it falls it doesn't land on...well...so it doesn't land.

Since it sounds like you don't know too much about the suspension I will describe what the parts look like.

The spring is held in on top and on bottom, as you can see. The bottom arm that comes out is what will drop out to remove the spring.

The first thing you want to do is put the jack under this arm and jack it up just a hair.

There is a bolt holding that arm into the area the shock is mounted to. When the jack is under the arm, remove that bolt. (The head of the bolt is usually facing the rear of the car)

Once removed, slowly lower the jack. The arm will not drop all the way, so you will want to remove the jack completely and put pressure on the arm with your foot. This seems a bit scary to do because the spring will *boing* when you do it, but at that pressure the spring is practically harmless.

Make sure the spring is right side up and the bumper is on the right side and do the whole process in reverse. (Jack up the arm to guide it into place, requires a bit of manuevering to get the holes lined up. Replace bolt, torque bold...one side done)

The rear springs only take me about 30 minutes total to swap around. They might take you an hour to 1.5 hours MAX, and if you a friend or two around (which I suggest, it makes things easier, as you won't have to get your own beer OR drive yourself to the hospital if the car falls on you. ;) )

Good luck no matter what you decide.

We fixed it on Thursday. I took apart his struts, flipped the spring seat, and put it all back together at the propper torques.......since the last installer used just an impact wrench to torque everything down. Also installed the SVT rear sway bar in his car.

His car rides higher in the front now since the suspension is installed correctly, but it doesn't make any noise now. :D

YOu know most people say that when they put there suspension on that it creaks and moans or makes some sorta sound. But I would have to disagree I put it all on my self and has long has you put everything in the way its supposed to go it will make no noise. But glad to hear you got it fixed.
