Good price?

Today, I was driving down the road and I passed a used car lot. Being a teenage boy, I am drawn to cars. Well, I had some time to kill and I stoped in to see what they had. I see this silver 2000 focus and I just had to check it out. I get the keys and I open it up all the way around. It is super clean inside and has some minor exterior blemishes. There are 79,xxx on the car and I didn't see any signs of damage from any accidents. They wanted $4,200 for the car. I was wondering wether this was a good deal for this car. It had the factory CD player and is a 5 speed. It also has A/C and power windows.

Thanks in advance.
JAW

I don't know where you're from but I'm in Arizona and I bought mine around a year ago for 4k. Pretty much what you're describing except it had 42k miles on it. Sounds like a good deal so long as it runs and drives good. Around here it's hard to find a non-salvage fofo for under 5k.

Im not sure on the drivibality of it. I am only 17 and most lots dont let people under 18 take testdrives without a parent in the car. Hopefully, I can get my mom to go and drive it for me next week.
I did crank it up and let it run for about 5 minutes. It stayed nice and even after it had run for about 10 seconds.

Does anyone know of any problems with the 2000 focus?

You can most likely find better deals through a private seller. Try looking for 2003 or newer since they were less prone to recalls.

Its a silver zx3 hatch. I am thinking that we could get it down to around $3600ish. I have been keeping my eyes open for newer one that fit my price range, but this one seems to be the best fit. I mean I know of a 2003 SVT that I would love to be able to get, but the fact that it is at a new car lot as compared to a used only lot is my major problem. I have found that most used car lots around me have better salesmen and take better care after the sale.

Thats what I was thinking. I know that for a little while, all I would be able to afford to do would be CAI and exhaust. But I know some tricks from all the time spent working on a buddies mustang that I can make things different.

some svt exterior mods are a possibility too.as for your mods, a cai and exhaust will do fine for now. ( and dont forget about a set of 17's )
