Lowering my car gave me better MPG!!!

Haha just kidding...but it is funny that I just lowered it this past week, then took it on its first semi-road trip today and got the best mileage I've gotten in it yet. Maybe it has to do with the negative pressure stuff I've been reading about with removing that part of your hood to cool under-hood temps. Anyway...check this out:

I just drove 228 miles in JUST a HAIR over a half a tank!!! That's by far the best mileage I've gotten in that thing yet!!! Ha...too bad I couldn't keep going to see what the final mileage was!!! If it were to keep going the way it was, I'd have gotten about 40mpg!...which is ridiculous to expect out of a Focus, but...I guess it could happen...

What's the best mileage you've gotten in your Focus?

Somehow I used to get almost 400mi per tank, now I'm lucky if I get 275 per tank.

I'd wait to verify that...I've gotten over 200 on the first half, only to have the second half go away in 100 miles or less. Sometimes the fuel gauge seems to be problematic or moody and only moves when it wants to.

yeah, it usually looks as if i'm gonna have much better mileage than its really getting if i go by what the first half tank shows. but i did go 360 miles recently before i filled up. demopolis alabama to just west of tallahasee, fl before i stopped to fill it up, was extremely close on empty by that time.

My recorded best was 38 mpg as the average on one tank of gas. The whole gas tank was all highway miles though, but still, I was very impressed.

Best milage I have managed out of my focus was on a long road trip where I averaged 39.5mpg for one leg of the trip. Although the average for the whole trip was 35.6 or something. Ended up being like 1898 miles and used 56 gallons I think. Would have to look.

But lowering your car decreases the amount of drag, so an economy boost would be expected.
