My car locked me out!!!!

Ok, so I was on my way home tonight and its about a 30mins drive and I've been needing to use the bathroom. Well I decide to pull over behind some buildings to releive myself. I but it in neutral and ebrake and run outta the car and do my busness and return to the car. I pull the handle and its locked!!!! I know it was unlocked when i exited cuz our cars unlock when u pull the handle to get out. Well after cursing FORDs name I relived my pass window was cracked (my engine was still on this whole time), but not cracked enough to get my arm in. So im like if i got a stick. I look down theres one right there and Im like thank God and i stick it in and unlock and im off.

Why did it do this? I know it has automatic locks when u start going and i did have it in neutral but still what if my window wasnt cracked???? I dont like ford engineering!!!!!

Yeah, the doors lock themselves if you leave the car unattended for a while. It's more of an anti-theft feature, in case you forget to lock your Focus up. But yeah, it can be scary sometimes when all you have is a single key. Do yourself a favor and get a spare key cut (without the chip). You can have it done online or at any locksmith for really cheap. Keep this second key around for situations like this. You'd be surprised how often you may end up needing it.

my GF has my other set of keys with the keyless and chipped key, she could have got me in but i didnt want to make her drive all that way. Can just about any key place cut a working key for the door and where is a good place to put it on the car?

If they have the correct blank key, yes...the question is if a hardware store or other place with a key cutting machine will have the blanks. There's not much demand for duplicated Focus keys since you can't start the car with them, so it might be hard to find.

As far as where to put it...you could get one of those magnetic key boxes and stick it under the bumper on a large piece of metal. Its that or put it in your wallet...

This happened to me... In a Wal-Mart parking lot. I actually left my sun-roof open and had to climb on top of the car and get down inside it. I was about to leave when a cruiser blocked me in, someone obviously reported that I was breaking into a vehicle. The cop had a good laugh after I was able to show him some ID and reg.

Go to Fords Accesories Website, and buy the keypad, and there you go. And you can mount it anywhere on the body you want if you don't want it being seen. Now gimme my damn rep points, lol.

the car doors automaticly lock so in case of an accident and with the doors locking it helps prevent the doors from opening in the accident and preventing you from falling out.

you can disable the automatic locks by doing a series of steps

now my car is ghetto. it was outside in my driveway warming up and when i go to get back in and open up the door, it doesn't unlatch all the way when i pull the handle and locks itself automatically so i couldn't get in. thankfully i had the other key inside and that i wasn't like 20 miles away from home
