Funny Story....Kinda

Today i unforunatlly shafted the ford motor company they have given me the trade in value for my 02 zx5 (which is like utterly destroyed) of 1000 this car has a broken transmission, rear hach is broken bumpers need replacing, hood is a lil bit bent and needs a paint job. Well today while we towned it to ford with my dads explorer he decided to attach the hook to something that he thought was a spot for the car to be towed lil did he kno that is was a radiator mount. Needless to say during the trip we almost ripped off the radiator and front bumper on the way to ford.

I kinda bad for 2 reasons:
1) i let my 02 get in that condition
2)Ford got in this deal and they really need all the money they can get

It happens. My 02 had a bad head gasket, a burnt out electrical system that fried everything inside, and some dented body panels (from an accident that disabled it in september and the car was still in the process of being repaired from. I got $1500 for it in trade. I lost $2500 on the car (still owed $4k on it to Ford Credit), which at this point was a pretty looking storage shed on four wheels depending on what angle you looked at it. It was either spend a minimum of $3k and have no guarantees that nothing else will break and continue paying on it, or trade it in, take a $2500 loss and have no worries from there. Decisions, decisions. Don't worry about it man. Ford didn't take the hit. The dealer did.

Thats not too bad. When I got my second focus a few years ago, I decided to try to trade in an old mercury sable (ford taurus) with a 3.8 that had both head gaskets blown. The car was given to me by my grandpa so I had no money into it, all I did was clean the crap out of it, made it look like new, I drove it around for a while and had some fun, then traded it in. Because it was clean, they just offered me the money for it and never looked at it. They thought they were getting a good deal, but i knew I was getting a better one.

After the paper work was done, I parked the sable behind my new car as I traded all my stuff from one to another, then as I get ready to leave, the salesman asked me "do you smell coolant?" I said no, hopped in the new car and laughed all the way down the street.

This has 0 effect on ford.. you just shafted the dealer is all. And I wouldn't even call it "shafting," they offered you the trade-in, so it's kind of up to them to inspect the car, is it not?

ya, dealers are pretty stupid at what they will give for old crappy trade-ins. I traded in an old crappy, broke down 4x4 on the Focus. The vehicle LOOKED cool, but pretty much everything was shot (tranny, rear diff, transfer case). They got all excited when I told them I was trading it in, and they offered me $5k for it. I paid $4.5k for it 2 years earlier...

They definitely make up for it when someone comes in with a decent vehicle. They pay $x,xxx for it, then turn around and sell it for $2k profit.
