Ok here we go. Due to computer problems I wasn't able to make the updates as I had planned. Anyways. It was a great season opener. I am so excited for this season.

Story lines from the weekend:
Fear of Ferrari's touchy new tranny.
Kimi's adapation to Ferrari.
L. Hamilton.

Ok in practice we saw fast times from both MM and FR. In qualifying I was very disappointed to see Massa drop out due to transmission problems. I am worried about the new tranny for Ferrari, it seems very delicate and one meeting with the curbing can resulting in a retirement. I was also please to see MM well, actually competetive. I feel bad for Kimi who left the team while they were in terrible condition. However his large lead and win yesterday meant those feelings quickly faded. None of the other cars seem to be refined and ready as Ferrari and MM. Both teams are going to be fighting for both the DC and CC. I am amazed by Luis Hamilton's ability. His first GP and he was second row and finished 3. This kid has amazing potential. As much as i was sad to see a legend leave the new young drivers of F1 are going to make things very very interesting and entertaining. Also sato in the cloned honda...we'll wait until the spyker team fights that one. The team seems very wet behind the ears and the drives seem unexperienced and not ready for prime time. Also to be mentioned Massa's progression. He started at the back of the grid and made his way through the pack to 6th. All in all a fantastic season opener.

The GRID:
1. Raikkonen Ferrari 1.
2. Alonso McLaren 4.
3. Heidfeld BMW Sauber 6.
4. Hamilton McLaren 2.
5. Kubica BMW Sauber 3.
6. Fisichella Renault 10.
7. Webber Red Bull 7.
8. Trulli Toyota 9.
9. R.Schumacher Toyota 11.
10. Sato Super Aguri 12.
11. Davidson Super Aguri 8.
12. Rosberg Williams 16.
13. Kovalainen Renault 14.
14. Button Honda 15.
15. Wurz Williams 13.
16. Massa Ferrari 5.
17. Barrichello Honda 17.
18. Speed Toro Rosso 18.
19. Coulthard Red Bull 19.
20. Liuzzi Toro Rosso 20.
21. Sutil Spyker 21.
22. Albers Spyker

The RACE:
1. Raikkonen Ferrari (B) 1h25:28.770
2. Alonso McLaren-Mercedes (B) + 7.242
3. Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes (B) + 18.595
4. Heidfeld BMW Sauber (B) + 38.763
5. Fisichella Renault (B) + 1:06.469
6. Massa Ferrari (B) + 1:06.805
7. Rosberg Williams-Toyota (B) + 1 lap
8. R.Schumacher Toyota (B) + 1 lap
9. Trulli Toyota (B) + 1 lap
10. Kovalainen Renault (B) + 1 lap
11. Barrichello Honda (B) + 1 lap
12. Sato Super Aguri-Honda (B) + 1 lap
13. Webber Red Bull-Renault (B) + 1 lap
14. Liuzzi Toro Rosso-Ferrari (B) + 1 lap
15. Button Honda (B) + 1 lap
16. Davidson Super Aguri-Honda (B) + 2 laps
17. Sutil Spyker-Ferrari (B) + 2 laps

Ok. I'll see you again in 2 weeks. The Super-best-friends drama should be playing out about then...

i was quite impressed with the pace of the BMW team. Kubica is going to be a force one of these days.

renault was very disappointing.

I hope that BMW can produce a consistently reliable car. A two team fight between MM and FR is amazing but a three team fight will make for an amazing season. Renault is no where were they were last year. Flavio is unhappy and criticizing his drivers and the new rule change for tires. My big worry this year is something new for Ferrari; reliability. The car is fast and competitive but, I just hope they can keep it out of the paddock and on the track. So much to discuss this season. Many new faces and changes. Still amazed that Spyker driver Albers (I think it was) forgot to brake and ended up crashing out because he was "fixing his headphones."
