Angry What has Ford done?!

OMG! Its a 2008 Ford Tempo?! Nah, its just the new Focus 2-door. How stupid that they wouldn't keep the hatchback! I love the hatch! I honestly think Ford made a mistake with this.

I see simularities.

Honestly, I think they see civic coupes flying off the shelves and turning a profit and they want to mimic their success.

I do think they are making a mistake by not offering a hatch or a wagon. With gas prices expected to climb above $3 a gallon (already there in parts of California) people will be looking to replace their SUVs with something that gets better fuel economy.

It is a known fact that for the most part hatchbacks aren't a popular vehicle in the US.

That is true, but last time gas prices rose small cars were hot commodities.

Hatches, which offer a bit more utility than coupes or sedans, could see a rise in popularity. This is not a fact, just my opinion.

All of my friends and I drive hatches due to us needing to move stuff around from time to time. I work with a marketing coordinator and need the extra room to transport materials. One of my buddies, an IT networking guy, is looking at a hatch to haul around computer stuff. I think the trend will change.

I've never had a more functional car than the hatch that I have now. I love them. I think my next car will be a hatch also. I agree that I think Ford is making a mistake with not offering a hatchback
