Turbo Or Bike

So here is the situation. Come August I am either going to drop 7 grand in the focus and turbo it and do the drivetrain and some engine mods, or get a motorcycle. The other option is to get the bike first and then do the focus. What are your thoughts?

hahahahaha at first I thought a pedal bike from the title.

Now it makes so much more sense.

Go turbo, yo. (in theory) you wont have more insurance that way.

Depends. Spend that on a bike (which, incidentally, if its your first bike I might be wary of), and there's very little on 4 wheels, anywhere and by any maker, that can match the speed. If nothing but an 11 second trap time is going to do it for you, there's your answer right there, buy a 636 or something.

It's possible to be a safe rider, but its not really possible to say riding is nearly as safe as driving. If this is a factor for you, then you should spend the money on the focus.

Personally, I think both options are wrong. 1992 MR-2 Turbo, you get some speed, you get a little exotic, you get a lot of throttle steer, all of those are things you can't get in a Focus, and it'll cost the same. But thats just me...

I like what SVT Robzor said, 7k is alot to spend on a focus in upgrades, but if you think its worth it, then it is worth it. A bike is super dangerous, super fast, but dangerous. Alot of times, people get killed, and its not their fault on the bike, but there is no protection on them... So I say go with 4 wheels.. either turbo the focus, or a different car!

What about neither? Sell the focus, use the $7K and put a down payment on something else?

I'm going to stand by my belief that I'd rather have a ton or so of steel surrounding me...even if its not the fastest thing on the road.

Looks as though I am a minority here, but I would suggest that you spend your money on a bike, protective gear to ride in, and at least the MSF Basic Riders Course. I love my SVTF, but I love to ride even more. It's not for everyone though, so it's tough for someone to tell you to drop that much money on something you may not like. Personally, if it weren't so damn cold here for 3-4 months out of the year, I'd ride year-round. Sure, it's not as safe as a car, but if you wear proper gear (Leathers, helmet, gloves, etc) and you don't act the ass on your bike (No stunting, wreckless riding, etc) you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Just my $.03...

I agree may not be the safest option but u cant beat it. I say life is for living live a lil death is sure to come so why stress it. Get the bike but be safe about it.
