Mod mine or start with a new one?

I have an '03 ZX3 2.0 Zetec with 60K miles. I am trying to decide what will be better- buy a new car to begin modding, or go ahead with mine. I am concerned with putting money into a car that might not last as it gets older(this is my daily driver). Should I just save that money intended for mods and wait until my next car purchase?

One of the things that makes this hard for me to decide is that I have recently driven the 2.3L Duratec. Will I be wasting my time souping up the Zetec? Just to try and reach Dura stock numbers? Or is the Zetec still a good contender (it has plenty of aftermarket)? Any opinions?

I say go with all the bolt on's. CAI and exhaust are a great start. 60 thousand miles is still low. I would say as long as you dont beat on it go ahead and go with a few mods. If you car is an automatic you might want to save your money and look into a new ride. Nothing wrong with the automatic, they just dont run as good as a 5 speed and the mods are not as noticable. Just my 2 cents worth.

And also... if you get a new car and mod it you could loose factory warranty.

I sold my Zetec to get a Duratec.

If stock Duratec levels is all you want, it would be easier and cheaper to mod your Zetec.

2 things:

1) I have an MTX and the 2 mods in my sig already on the car.
2) I would like more than the Duratec numbers, but the little voice in my head says "you know, that intake you got was good for about 3 hp/tq, but it woulda been good for 6 hp/tq if you had the 2.3L" . This is just for example. I appreciate the comments!

Hey Egz, if it is easier and cheaper to mod the zetec, why did you sell yours for the 2.3?

um the d20 and d23 are better with mods like intake exhuast and such, but the aftermarket for zetec is HUGE, and a lot cheaper, a intake for a zetec is like 100 bucks, a intake for dura is over 200

a newer car will require new aftermarket parts, and they are always more then the older style engine, zetec for your case, so i say stick with your current car, esp if you still owe on it, but if its all paid off then your golden, mod that sucker!

i did upgrade from spi to dura but the auto sucked balls lol
