I suggest he does not get his hopes up for a REAL sports car. 17 and limited funds does not usually include the STi, Evo, 350Z, S2000, and such options.

He is either gonna have to find a ST or SVT focus, Cobalt SS, Ion Redline, Si, and even with THOSE options i hope he has a good paying job unless your parents are paying for it.

Also no 17 year old needs a SPORT car LOL, they need something to not encourage the idiotic behaviour most go through at the time of being new to driving.

I suggest older EG style Honda Hatch. Preferably Si, if he wants something sporty. You can usually find some decent ones around here for about 3k.

He'll have the reliability of a Honda but a decent aftermarket too.

But on the other hand KBB says that the early 2000s ZX3s are worth around 3k too.

Depends on whether he wants to follow big brother or not.

Yeah, but he'd probably get killed in his first wreck which is probably pretty likely to happen in the first couple of years. Put him in something a little bit safer.

Edit: Plus he'd be getting a rwd car that I want to build myself. :-P

i dont know. if anything, i think driving around in a car this small makes you more alert and aware of the other drivers on the road. that being said, i dread the day when some idiot in a giant SUV decides to plow over top of my car at a stoplight.
