Little dissapointed, but it's all good

I have just recently gotten my new job making roughly 1300$ a month. and am beginning to rethink my choice to keep my focus and get a mustang. so i took a lil trip to nationwide today to get quoted for the mustang i might get...and needless to say im gonna be waiting a while lol...293$ a month for the GT, but the V6 is about 200$ a month...i currently pay 154 on my focus. so now that the GT is out of the question for me as of now i have to make a desicion, get the six or keep my focus. i have thought about both, and figureing in weight and everything i think the focus turboed putting down even 200fwhp would beat a newer v6 mustang easily. so i just wanted to know what some other peoples opinions where on it. i have always wanted a stang...but the sixes just dont seem to tickle my fancy like the v8 does. but then im still unsure about dropping 5-7grand in my focus to get the power i could get N/A out of the stang. so...

let the opinions flow.

another thing i have thought about was getting this Black 5-spd 07 ZX5 with SAP at the dealer that has my for now un-buyable GT...if that would be better to turbo...but it's sticker is 18k...and it's an SE model.

You want a brand new GT??? Couldn't you find a used GT with the newer body style like from '05 for a little less/month or are you looking to lease? If you look at another Focus get at least a Zetec--seems to be the best way to go for power and reliability. Good luck.

well i have this whole paranoia thing when it comes to buying used cars that might have been abused. if i could find a used one with low miles i might get a GT but even still it might be too high.

as for getting a zetec i dont want to trade down to low..unless it's an 04 then i might...or i could just get an 04 svt .

In my opinion, I'd probably keep the focus (that is unless there is something wrong with it). I was thinking about buying a 6 mustang new before I bought my focus 4 years ago. I'm really glad I went with the focus. You'd be disappointed with the 6 cyl Mustang. I drove one, and yes it's quicker than a stock focus, it's not that impressive. If you are all about power, I'd save up and then buy the mustang.

Oh yeah, I've been waiting 10 years to buy a Mustang, and I still don't have one. Maybe within the next 10 :)

im thinking about keeping my focus...i did more reseach and found out that stock 05+ sixers are mid-low 15 sec cars...and the focus is what a mid 16 sec car stock?...so i think i might just keep my focus. added to the fact that i may get a job with google when they open their building in my town, and i'll just save and buy a mustang straight out...them i'll have both my focus and a mustang.

well, im a big mustang fan too and just yesterday i found out some exciting news. I have allstate, and i quoted the mustang gt to prove a point, b/c last time i did it, i didnt get a quote and it just said im sorry but youve indicated a risk that allstate does not cover. Anyway so i checked the other day and the GT mustang cost just as much to insure as the v6, i was like what. Keep in mind this is only for the 05+'s, 04s still says its risky. Anyway, you can find used GTs with very low miles, usually well under 20k miles on them and for under 25k.

But i dont know, even so, you said you only make 1300 a month, which really isnt that good, and even a years pay wont pay for a mustang GT. Maybe you should just wait till you have a full time, salary job to get the mustang you want. Ive thought about it too, and could probably get a v6, but thats really not the mustang i want, cause i know id want more outta it. So im going to wait it out till I can afford one, used or new. The wait will be worth it too, b/c the stang will only get better. I mean at the end of the decade when its redesigned its going to have a decent power boost to compete with the camaro and challenger, and im sure itll be filled with nice options and new tech, like ford sync etc.

very true...in 2010 there will be a new mustang so im most likely gonna wait for that...by then i should have most of my focus paid off. and i can get the stang. i guess for now i'll just get some bolt ons to give my focus some more oomph. might still turbo it though...hmm...

then i could do what i said in my last post and buy the stang and have both my (mabey)turbo focus and a stang with whatever ungodly amount of power ford might put in it.
i really would'nt mind keeping the focus for my DD cause i think it's a very nice car compared to the other sport compacts/econo cars i have driven.
