Looking to buy 2007 Focus. How much for new?

When i bought my '00 F-150 the sticker was 27,500. I told the dealer I would onlt pay 23,000 or walk. He pi$$ed and moaned but finaly agreed. I know of many similar or better deals talked about at f-150 online.

Yesterday I offered the same dealer 10,000 for a stickered 13,500 Focus 2 door hatch for my wife. They called back and said "good news we'll give it to you for 12,000" I said no thanks.

Question: should I be expecting as good of deal as I got on my truck 6.5 years ago? I really don't want to spend more than 10,000. BTW I already have the financing in place.

Thanks, Rick

The Focus doesn't have nearly as much profit margin built into it like Ford's trucks and SUVs. You can get 5000 off of a truck, and they still make a profit. Not so much on a Focus. It may be possible to talk them down some more, but it will be a lot harder.

I got my '05 ZX3 for 12,800. If they will go down to 12, thats a pretty good deal, and I doubt you will find a new focus any cheaper than that.

Thanks, good info. When we were looking we just drove through the lots looking at what we liked. Playing cat and mouse with the sales staff. I got out when the coast was clear and glanced at the stickers. I can't tell you the options, just the msrp. I was just looking for ballpark figures without the sales pressure. I guess I'll need to pull a couple of grand out of savings.

I appreciate the help, Rick

I am starting to *think* used.

My last 2 trucks have been new, I liked the idea of nobody had driven it hard, full warranty etc. My F-150 is 6.5 yrs old and still only 45,000 miles. I can't see paying 8 or 9 for a 2 year old either. In other words I'm undecided.

I have really liked not having a car payment the last couple of years. I started doing some soul searching on whether I wanted to go back into debt again.

I see bone stock focus here for 9800$ but thats stick shift NO AC type of options

If you saved 19% off sticker on the truck(the different between 27500 and 23000=19%)... well 19% off a 13500$ focus would be 11344$ not anywhere close to 10000$
Its not a bad deal.. depending on the options it might be a very good deal to an ok deal.
I paid 12.6k (not including tax etc) for a 07 zx3 SE with stick shift, sport package and power package
thats AC Cruise power windows, locks, TACH, alloy rims, etc

Not the best deal but I already saved 500$ in gas in 4 monthes over my
truck So waiting another a few monthes wouldnt have really saved me much.
