5 yr/100k warranty?

Can someone tell me what the heck this means or point me to more info...

http://www.focusfanatics.com/news/view.asp?linkid=307

There's nothing about this on the Ford website. Is this an optional service plan or warranty that you purchase separately, or does it come with all Foci? All the Ford info I've seen says Foci come with a 3/36 warranty plan.

Confused...

Thumbs up

It is true!

DEARBORN, Mich., September 2003 Ford announced a continuation of the no-charge 100,000-mile/5-year powertrain service plan that includes the 2004 Focus as well as the 2003 model year Focus. The no-charge Powertrain Extended Service Plan* has a $100 deductible and is transferable from one owner to the next. This no-charge Powertrain coverage offers new Focus buyers peace of mind and may even help improve resale values.

The Powertrain Extended Service Plan, which includes roadside assistance coverage, complements the 3-year/36,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty and five-year anti-corrosion limited warranty currently offered on Ford products.*

Thx for the additional info. So I guess the "no charge" claim is really just a lie if there's a $100 deductible. I guess what they mean is that there's no charge to sign up for the plan.

But I'm wondering: Is this something that comes automatically with every new Focus, or is it something I have to ask for when I buy the car? And if I buy a used 2003 Focus, for example, will it come automatically with the car, or only if the original purchaser signed up for it?

Thx again!

I bought my used '03 SE sedan on March 17th this year. The salesman told me then that Ford had upgraded to the extended service plan on the '03s for 5 years-100,000 miles. Last week I received the Ford Extended Service plan in the mail from Ford.
It is the "PowertrainCARE" core plan with a $100 deductable and shows a purchase price of $395 if you were to buy it. It is for 5 years from the original date of purchase (in my case it is 2/19/03) and for 100,000 miles. Did anyone else get a written copy from Ford for their '03?
