About to trade in for a Focus, Yes or NO/

Well i'm about to trade in for a focus, and i'm haveing a hard time deciding if this is a good move...heres the details:

I have a 05 SRT-4, currently owe 22,700

Trading in for a 05 Focus ZX4 ST with 14k miles

They want 15,600 out the door for the focus after tax/title/registration and trade in, as long as I cancel my 1400$ extended warranty on the srt.

Is this a decent trade in price or no?

I want something that I can pay off sooner and wondering how reliable these cars are and hows the warranty on them?

Thanks,

Edwin

HELL NO! $15,600 for a $10k used car? How much are they allowing you on the SRT-4?

15,600 is after tax/title/registration.

I owe 22,700 and trade in from them or dealership is about 16k, so they are taking that negative equity and putting it on top of that.

Go to www.edmunds.com and use the appraiser feature. Plug in all the info on your car and see what pops up for trade-in value.
Rolling negative equity is a losing game, my friend. BTDT.

I'm confused is no one understanding my question.

I owe 5k more then my car is worth, they were going to drop it on the focus and take in my trade, i'm asking about how the focus st is for a car and everybodys saying its a bad deal as if I own my car.

Have you driven the ST yet? I havent personally, I dont think it would be nice enough to let me forget all that power you're coming from.

Trading in a car so soon is never a good financial decision, you're getting screwed the same the Subaru dealership wanted to screw me when they offered me $5000 on the SVT I paid $13.9k for 19 months ago.

I'm not entirely sure what you're looking for in the ST. I will cost less to insure I suppose, stock for stock handling is probably marginally better. I personally like the looks of the SRT better. Who gives a damn about the rear windows being manual, I dont sit back there, do I?

Dont set yourself up for failure though, the SRT-4 is a good sport compact, if that's important to you it looks a lot like trading down to me. If you're looking to save yourself some money, why not try to private party sale the SRT-4 and pick up a Focus second hand, you'll probably end up making money.

dude i wouldnt do it...even if that focus is fully loaded i know that my 05 SES according to NADA (that is what the dealers all use) is only worth 13500 and thats with 42000 miles and LOADED i have everthing but auto and leather in mine. I would tell them you wont pay any more than 13000 for it and atleast try not to go over 13500.

As far as going from a SRT-4 to a focus ST its not going to touch your Neon in power but you will the handling will be quite a treat....just remember it will take some work... ok alot of work to get the same amount of power out of the focus as the SRT-4..... Foci against any regular neon you will teeeeeear apart! but your SRT-4 is going to be faster.

Any ways I would tell the dealer that if they want 15,600 that you would only buy the car for that much if they pay off your SRT-4 and NOT tach on the extra cost. Or if they will not pay it off...then I would tell him you wont pay any more than 13,500.

Just My 2 cents.

they are paying off my srt and giving me the focus for 15,600 out the door, taking in account tax/registration/ and negative equity on my srt

Haven't driven a ST, I know, no matter how much power I put into it, the focus won't touch the srt power wise lol, but looks like a nice car, just want a reliable cheaper car.

Oh, FYI, they are only charging 9888 for the focus, they are tacking on tax and stuff plus negative equity

Not that it matters heres my srt as of now, nothing big done to it, just a RFL bov and pin striping from dealership. Maybe I should just keep it, put 7k down and refinance at 14k?

I just gotta ask which would you guys rather have the srt or a focus, loaded? Maybe I am just getting bored with it or something, I mean I keep up with everything on freeway, stis, integras, nothing has taken me on the freeway lol...I took out a fully done up integra today, his buddy wasn't laughing as i flew past them, good times no doubt...I just kinda like the looks of the Focus.

lmao im sorry dude but there are guys on here one i know of that has OVER 300hp! cant remember his name but trust me there is the capability but you need money lol. I think you will be supprised how well that ST will do though. I have taken my SES and beaten many cars that are putting out a good amount more power than my car is putting out. I know that there are two turbo kits out and one of which will put a focus up to 225 whp.

Well if they are paying off your SRT and your walking away only owing 15600 than thats not bad! not nearly as bad as owing over 22000! Your still in over your head but your better off than i am lol. I still ow about 16000 on my 05.
