Do SVTs carry the 5yr/100k warranty?

Hey Guys,

I've been having some engine trouble lately, and in fact my mechanic ( whom I would trust with my life ) has informed me that my engine is slowly destroying itself due to a camshaft with way too much play ( it can move about .5" in any direction, which = no good. )

anyways, I've only had this car since October, and I was pretty upset at the news, but then I found a bit of info online stating that the 2003 foci carry a 5 year / 100k mile powertrain warranty, which is transferrable to any future owner. Does this special warranty apply to SVTs as well? I really REALLY hope it does, because that will run me $3500+ to replace/rebuild my engine.

Call your dealer and give him your VIN.He can run it (an Oasis query)and see if it was purchased with the extended warranty package. If it was,you will need to get a transfer form from the dealer and have the person whose name is currently on the contract sign the transfer document. That and $50 bucks will transfer it to you.Good luck.

I have been through this, here's the deal.

An extended warranty was added to the SVTs mid-way through the 03 year. It depends on the purchase date, if the car has it or not. The powertrain did not have to be purchased separately. There is a 50 (I think) fee to transfer it that you pay at any dealership. They may not agree with you, when I bought mine, I went to a dealer and asked. They said no. When my motor blew and I had to use it, then I had to transfer it.

Attn: If you bought a used 2003+ Focus

well i'm going to head to my local dealer tomorrow since it will be my day off, and i'm gonna get the warranty info all straightened out (and pay $50 if necessary, seems silly. but w/e)

my car was built on 04/03 and i've no idea when the original owner first bought the car as i never recieved an owners manual or maintenance log (bummer!)

I just hope they will cover the engine and fix it or replace it. because that really blows.

You thought wrong.

There is no 7/100 on SVT from the factory.

well I just got back from the Ford dealer, I have the Oasis print out in hand, and according to that, I am not under any warranty. My purchase date is apparently 5/24/03, so does anyone know of possibly any other hard facts that would say otherwise?

One thing it did say clearly was that my car includes the SVT premium service. That's good to know in case I do ever take it in ;)

Mine was born in April 03 and it had the 5/100k powertrain warranty. You should have one of the guys here that works at a dealership scan your car.
