Naias 2007 - Pictures

Group,
The family and I went to NAIAS 2007 yesterday in Detroit. Good 4 hour drive, got there early afternoon. Stayed till 8:30, and headed for home. Got home around 1:30am. Had an awesome time. I'll give you my impressions of the show:

-CROWDED
-The DC exhibit was nice. The Nassau is very nice in person. With a little work, it would be a very suitable replacement for the 300 in a few years. The Sebring was nice, the Limited Edition Sebring with the 4.0L is very nice. Nice enough for me to consider it as a possible replacement to the M. Although, the Magnum is my first choice. The Super Bee Charger SRT8 was awesome, so was the Plum Crazy Purple Charger Daytona R/T. The 08 Dodge Caravan looks like it gets back to the looks of the early 90's, with a modern interpretation. The Avenger is nice, but doesn't look as big as the Sebring.

-The GM exhibit was kind of disappointing. Not like it was a few years ago to be sure. Very toned down. To me, the Pontiac portion was most displeasing. Nothing much there really. Cadlliac was the nicest portion IMO. The 2008 CTS is awesome, very nice looking. The Chevy Camaro Convertible concept is nice to look at....very impressive. The Chevy Volt concept was impressive as well. Great technology, 50MPG out of a car that size is great. The 2008 Malibu LTZ was one of the nicest GM's there IMO.

-Ford, overall was a very good exhibit. The 2008 Focus is a very nice looking car. I think that it looks better in person than the pictures. My wife and I are of differeing opinions of it. she thinks that the 05-07 rear end looks better with the 08's front end. I think the 08's front end needs to be gone, and replaced with the 05-07. I like the rear of the 08. The Ford Interceptor is a high performance car that runs on E85. The Mustangs are nice looking as well.

-I liked the Audi's as well. The new TT is a bigger car, and looks much more functional. The R8 was one of the best looking cars of the show.

-The VW's look good, but I don't fit into a GTI, or a GLI very well. Nor do I fit in the Rabbit, or Jetta much better.

-Nissan, the 07 Altima, and 08 Altima Coupe impressed me the most. I will actually consider purchasing one when the time comes. 3.5L, 270HP with a Sport Mode CVT...that would be simply awesome. That car should flat out fly!! The funny thing is that the Altima is rated 15HP higher than the Maxima, and the Maxima is a heavier car!! The Altima Coupe is a 2008 model that will be available in the spring. If a coupe is a choice for you, the Altima couple with the V6 should be quite a hoot!!

-There was a Chinese manufacturer there... Changfeng Motors. OMFG...the vehicles they had on display were of poor quality. They haed an SUV there, the model was CFA2032A (I remember that because it was plastered on the fenders) The paint on the SUV was horrible. Runs all over the place, body panels not lining up at all. Poor fit & finish quality. I sat there for 10 minutes picking the SUV apart piece by piece. It was easy to do. They had representatives at each vehicle listening to what was being said. Hopefully it will help, because their vehicles suck!!

Overall, it was a good time. A long day, but a good time nonetheless.
We decided to go anyway, even though Friday, I lost my job. I was let go because the company is "going in a different direction", and I was no longer needed. So...such is life.

Anyhoo...hope you enjoy the read, and here are the pics:

Any thoughts?

well dude, you beat me to it, I was gonna go either Tuesday or Thursday and post all the pics like you did. I really really dislike the front end of the focus. Wheel gap looks considerably smaller than the previous batch though.

My strongest impression is this looks like what the Escort would have evolved into.

I get none of the quirky Focus vibe at all from this car. It has a nice interior, the sync option is pretty cool and the exterior is fine for what it is.

It's a nice little car but it's NOT a Focus!
