Angry [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]* the Ford Warranty

ok, i have to vent some frustration on Ford. here's my problem, i was driving along the highway last night about 7 o'clock and all of a sudden i hear a huge thud come from underneath my car. i think nothing of and go home. i come out maybe an hour later and go to leave, but i can't. i start the car and the oil light stays on, so i pop the hood to check the dipstick and i see nothing. i happen to look down and see oil running down the street in the rain water so i'm like WTF? to make a long story short, i get it to my buddy's house, and in his garage, look down underneath the car and it's pissing oil like a russian race-horse. so we get it up on jacks and i see a hole in my oil pan. i'm like OH S! so i call Roadside Assistance and they come and get my car and tow it to the dealership i bought it at. i get a call a few hours later just to be told that I have to pay for it. i was like HELL NO! they quoted me $400+ for everything. i proceed to tell him it's under warranty and he tells me it's not covered if i hit something. so now WTF do i do?? do i call FORD themselves or my ins. company or what? i'm stuck. i could really use some advice on some people on here that work for FORD or something. HELP ME by the way i only have 23.5k on my car also. i thought Bumper to Bumper meant just that. that's why i bought the DAMN thing.

well you gotta look at where the thing is leaking oil....if the hole is going out towards the ground, then they should cover it.......if the hole is comming in towards the engine then you hit something and therefore not covered under warranty. Unfortunatley, you're not covered if you hit something. Only if it's a manufactuers defect. That's like saying i got into an accident and want Ford to Fix it under warranty......Sorry, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I would call your insurance company and see what it would cost to get fixed. It should be cheaper to take it somewhere else or get it fixed on your own, depending what's wrong/broken.

it's coming out directly towards the ground, its at the lowest poin on the oil on a Duratec approximately 1.5 inces before the drain plug. so now what should i do call another dealership around me and tell them i heard a loud noise underneathe my car and get it fixed there or what?

Agreed...odds are you hit something, if you threw a rod or other engine component through the pan I doubt your car would be running. You should be able to get a new pan for way less than $400, and its not that hard to remove the old and reinstall the new.

Yup, it's not a 4x4. You can't run over stuff like that. It's probably going to be better for you in the long run to pay for the damages yourself. It depends on what your insurance deductible is though.

And if paying to fix anything that gets broken on your car was part of the warranty, we wouldn't need legal minimum legal insurance (primary liability). In that case they would pass a new law requiring legal minimum warranty coverage, then we would all be screwed.

I hope you didn't go into the dealership and make an ass of yourself when you found out that you were liable. If you did, probably the whole dealership was calling you a after you left and had a nice laugh. Just don't loose your temper.

Just fix it yourself. Get a new oil pan and be done with it....just be glad you didn't have to buy a $4700 dtec motor....same thing happen to a guy just last week. He didn't catch that he busted a hole in the pan and we put a motor in his brand new 601 mile focus. Insurance company paid for it after he fought with them to do it...

Bumper to bumper means they cover anything that is not user induced. IE: If you hit something with the car, they are not going to cover the damage. Just like they would not if you got in a wreck. To me, this does not sound like a warranty issue.

i already checked on one earlier, i can get one for $85. a good friend of mine works at a boneyard and he can get me one from TX for that price. what about the gasket, no autoparst stores around here have one. dont worry ncslavens, i was out to dinner when they called so i couldn't cuss him out in the restaraunt, but if i could've reached through that phone he would've been sorry. but hey at least i got a loaner car, although it is a '05 focus wagon
