94 Integra Yey or Nay?(56k might be some time)

ok so i drove up to this integra that was for sale, and i thought it might be a good project car, ive always liked integras, up there with the 240sx and maximas, but i wanted to see how much you guys think i should pay for this, here are some pics, the car has 180k miles i believe, i have called the person selling it but no answers yet, so ill try again tomorrow. the car isnt it good shape but thats why it'd be a project car :) enjoy the few pics :P
PS im thinkin maybe to offer 1200 ,is that too much? there is a pre-94 model also for sale down the street from me thats in really nice condition and its going for 1500, though i havent seen it upclose or got the specs on yet ill get pics tomorrow.so help me out here.

My initial impression is the car has not been well taken care of by previous owners.VERY faded paint, prior unrepaired collision damage and many misc. dents. You will have to strip that car to the metal to ever get it to shine again.Acura parts are VERY expensive and with 180k in the clock expect to be doing a lot of replacing, especially considering the overall condition of the car.I'd pass...

For $300 more I think I'd look at the car that's in better condition, especially if it has lower miles on it....

Thats a great car to build. The price would pivot on the engine. What engine is in it? If your not sure, snap a pic or two and i could tell you. Overall, thats about average for one in that condition, at least around here.

I'd go with the previous generation Integra over this one, provided it's in better shape. As for the condition, I'd offer $500, $1000 tops for it. As others have noted, you'll be spending money on the body, though if you're planning to do body kits (you'll be doing this work anyway so it's no great loss). Fortunately, 3rd generation integras have no shortage of aftermarket support and motor swaps or LS/VTEC motors aren't as involved as they are with other cars.

As for non VTEC Integras being slow, that may be true, but they are a lot of fun to drive, slow or not. My first car was one of the original integras ( a first generation 1989 LS) - most fun car I've ever driven. The second and third generation cars are fun too. If my wife were more understanding and integras lasted more than 8 years before completely rusting out up here in PA, I'd get one to play with.

If you don't mind the hassel here is my two cents of what you should do.

buy an even more crapped out Integra, one thats not even running for like $300 or so, import a built motor, drop it in and do some custom body work on it.

I'd go with the older Integra. IMO the oldschool ones (89-93) were the best looking. I really only think the newer ones look good with the JDM frontend.

Here's my friends 93 Integra that now belongs to his father. It's lowered with a a set of 15" black dp12s. The original B16 GSR spun a rod bearing so they temporarily replaced it with a B17 w/ VTEC until they get around to rebuilding the original engine. All I can say is that lil bastard is mean. I'm a little ashamed to say that I get more enjoyment riding shotgun in that car than I do driving my Focus.

I appologize for the crappy quality. Its the only pic I could get ahold of.
