Thumbs up Foci praise..

Hi, I work at a shop and do a lot of roadtesting, so I get to drive a wide variety of cars. I just bought a 2000 ZX3, and I would put it at [or near] the top. Well done Ford! Great value for the money.

First thing I noticed was the strength and integrity of the body. Superb. [Great WRC platform] The feel of the car, how you transfer your driving energies to the road, is fantastic. Engine sound is nice. Great suspension, corners beautiful, the steering, the brakes, nice. It's quiet, not much wind or road noise. I like to drive it, I take the long way home. A VERY good package.

Only complaint is not enough power for me, but I'm going to resolve that.

I guess my focus just sucks. Cause mine does none of that up there. I corner to hard my rear sway bar endlinks go flying.

yea if I were you going after a lot more power, go get a PowerWorks s/c kit... I know www.steeda.com and www.focussport.com both carry it and it will make your car very fast... it WILL double your horsepower if you get and exhaust and header to go with it... happy tuning and have fun!

The focus ...

is a great car when everything is in perfect order. That being said, I've had a very up and down relationship with mine. When things are going well, they are awesome. The handling is great, manueverability is good, and ride is decent. The versatility was the big thing for me. The zx3 has the perfect blend of sport and utility. (zx5 as well) Mine has been hit or miss, but in the grand scheme, I like the car enough that it's being fixed from the accident this time.

Thanks. I played around with V8's back in the 80's and they always had a lot of room for improvement [to say the least]. But with this zetec, it's a very modern, efficient engine, already has the "good stuff" such as 4 valves per cyl. etc. Seems we need to be more creative and smarter these days to improve these engines.

I'm going to start with a good long tube header, but I'm still debating whether to install a cat. con. [I live in an area with no emissions certification required]

And yes, I will consider a blower later on for sure, when I can scrape up the funds.

check the classifieds for used headers and orp's and such. its a great alternative to paying full price. just make sure to replace the flex pipe as well.

Whats nice is that you can also improve the handeling too. I put on the FocusSport Stress bars and the car stays a lot flatter through the turns. Its very nice. I would agree with you that it needs more power, but luckly there are many ways to do that to the focus.

Pistonbroke, PM me if you need anything for that car. Theyre a great platform for building a great car. The power problem can easily be fixed also.
