Prospective SVTF owner...

I'm in the market for a new hatchback/compact wagon. I was set on a Mazda3 until I saw the NHTSA crash test results; I still like the car, but I want to look at my options.

My current "fun car" is a 1988 M3, and that car just has unbelievable power at the top end. I'm looking for a car that is handles very well and has a lot of high-end power, along with the potential of developing more power with the right N/A mods. The Mazda looks to be a good candidate but it's just too new to predict the size of its aftermarket support.

From lurking for a few days, it looks like there are some decent incentives right now coming from Ford. I also have access to X-Plan pricing. What is a reasonable price to pay for a new SVT Focus around the D.C. area these days? Are some dealers more willing to work with customers than others?

Finally, I tried to find info on the Euro package but only came up with a brief description of it along with the price. Ford's website didn't help much at all. Does anyone have good pics of the seats and the other parts of the package? I'm trying to spend as little as possible, but I must admit that the Euro pkg has caught my eye. ;)

I don't know about America, but here in Canada the Ford dealers are about to announce 0 percent financing on SVT models. You can take advantage of their not-so-successful sales and really haggle the dealership. Sticker here in Canada are pushing 30 grand, and you can talk them down a few thousand because they aren't selling well.

I'm looking to buy cash, but it's "good" to know that sales are somewhat slow.

So what about that Euro package? Is there a review of that option available somewhere? And are there other forums with SVT-specific members and content as well? I believe in doing my research. :)

Euro Package:
Includes ALL options, plus the "oh so sweet" Recaro leather seats, and special 15 spoke Argent wheels.
All the options would be:
1) CWP-Cold Weather Package
Engine block heater.
Traction control.
Heated seats.
2) Power Moonroof.
3) HID headlights.
4) Audiophile stereo system.

Let me see if I can find a seat pic for ya.
Back in a bit....

dealer here

there is no negotiation with x,a,z or d plan prices. ford sets the price on the invoice.. in the case of an x plan it is "a" plan plus 4% which means a few dollars under invoice usually . for instance i have a new leftover 03. hid's, audiophile and roof. invoice is 19592.08. x plan is actually 19719.76. a/d plan is 18817.08. then a 3500 rebate. new 04-roof and audiophile. invoice 19257.08. x plan 19392.24. then a 2k rebate.

gary - thanks on that info. I went to the fordpartner website and tried to find pricing info on the SVT, but got nowhere. I'm going to go test drive one tonight.

Found the seats.
From member, ElliSVT's image gallery(clicky).

You might also read the following thread(clicky) from when I was contemplating the SVT
just a couple weeks ago.
And, here's(clicky) the delivery thread.

Happy hunting, and welcome to the forum!
Though, I'm a "newbie" here too.

So can the traction control be turned off?
Yes, but IIRC, it still stays on below 25mph.
If you search for "traction control", you'll find gobs of information.

Damn...those are some nice bolsters. Would come in handy for autocrossing. But do they only come in leather? (These stupid n00b questions could all be answered if Ford had a decent website for the SVTF.)
