30MPG or better with 2.3 PZEV?

Sorry if this has been covered before.

I know it is fun to get on these 2.3 PZEV powered Foci - had a hell of a good time on my test drive! Still, when taking long trips , such as interstate cruising , has anyone ever achieved the 30 MPG rating with the automatic or the 33 MPG rating with the 5 speed manual. I am still considering one of these - probably a ZX3 or ZX5. With gas prices continually rising I would like to be able to get good mileage when I am not leadfooting it. At the moment I am driving around 30,000 miles a year.

For the 05 models I have read here that the 2.3 will not be used - will be replaced with a 2.0 Duratec? Will it be similar to the 2.0 used in the Mazda 3? Anyone know what the HP rating will be? Thanks!

I got 30 once and mid-high 29s a handful of times on my automatic. The 30 was pretty much entirely highway, but neither me nor my friend who drove on that tank have, shall we say, a light foot on the accelerator. I'd bet it coulda been 33-35 had we obeyed the limit.

Very nice ClearH2O, so I guess my estimate was about right.
