St Owners

My zx3 was recently totaled (car was parked in drive way), therefore I am getting a new car.

3 cars that am looking into.
zx4 ST-Vw Rabbit-Mazda 3
I know the ST is a little more pricey, but is it worth the extra few bucks?
Anyone have any personal experiences with these cars? I know there are ST owners on this site, so lets here some good, and bad things about it..

I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thanks.

^^ AHAHAHA, my question exactly.

Unless you are looking into upgrading to the MazdaSPEE3 then the ST would have to be the way to go IMO. Faster and better looking than the other two IMO.

The ST I'm sure has better aftermarket options out there than the Rabbit and the 3 is just kinda ugly.

I would go with the ST honestly.

If this was a poll, I'd say mazda 3, then rabbit, then focus, not that I hate focus mind you...I own one, but the mazda 3 woud probably be the way to go.

He not talking about just any Focus, not that the ST is OH so special, I am just saying it's definately faster than the Zetec and way better optioned.

I eould go with the focus for the simple fact...well a few simple facts. 1.its a focus 2.Its lighter than both of those cars 3.It responds to mods really well. Now I have owned a VW and I loved it but the car is heavy though it does come turbo frrom the factory and its allways easier to turn up the boost. the mazda is basicly a rebadged new euro focus its a little heavery than the focus. I say focus.

Seems like a no-brainer to me...

Focus ST: built on the aging C170 chassis
Mazda 3: built on the superior C1 chassis, which is also used in a number of Volvo cars as well as the MkII Focus. Also has far more options (such as HID headlights) available than the ST. And higher resale values. Oh, and the Mazda 3's 2.3 Duratec makes 160 BHP due to the addition of iVCT. Come to think of it, there's really no reason to get a ST over the Mazda 3 unless you're getting a super deal on it.

well....I gues you have a pint there. You will like the mazda I'm sure so try and get a deal on a ST has for the vavle timming blah blah blah 10 hp is easialy made up for. I'd rather have the non VCT motor less of a headache in tuning I would assume. But everybody ...well almost everybody know that assumtion is the mother of all f-ups.

OK...forget that its a Mazda, has iVCT and more off-the-lot horsepower.

I'd take it over the ST just because its built around the C1 chassis. Which is leaps and bounds ahead of the outgoing C170 chassis it replaced everywhere but here, and for pretty much every Ford family C170 model except the Focus. It would be like having a choice between an early to mid-90s Escort GT and a Focus SVT/ST and taking the Escort...thats how big of a change there is between the C170 and C1 chassis.

oh yeah of course I won't argue about that. It is way ahead ussally iVCT is more of a pain to tune. Or you could just wait till ford finnaly wises up and gets there thumb out of there butt and make the focus out of the new body. Does anybody know if the new focus is the new chassi?
