Neat car. I hope the aftermarket tunes the cars for more performance.

I was wondering how much of an aftermarket there is/would be here in the U.S. for that engine? It would be great if a simple reflash could get you a bit more power. Add most bolt ons and you got a quick car, with Focus handling.

there should be an aftermarket. evolve has already gotten one, and they made an awd WIIIIIDE-body awesome machine. it has 14-piston front calipers!! i dont know if anyone else will develop stuff for it though cause i dont know anything about volvos aftermarket beyond evolve.

I don't think a base price of $23 large for a 215 HP Volvo is expensive at all, considering the target market. The article clearly shows that Volvo is trying to lure buys away from Audi A3s and Mini Coopers. The Audi is already way more expensive, and the Mini is much smaller, being a B-segment car. If I were in the market, I'd definitely consider for one with the 6-speed manual. It might not be a sporting as a Focus ST, but we can't even get that car here in the states, so the Volvo looks like the next best thing.

I really like this car. Basically shares the same platform and engine from the euro ST correct?

Yes, it's the same platform, and the ST takes the motor from Volvo, so actually it borrows it from the C30 now. As far as sport is concerned, I like it. The ride I'm afraid will be "Volvoized", but that's nothing a little consult from H&R or KW can't fix. As far as the price, yeah, they're gonna keep it cheap because it's the smallest car in their lineup and it will be priced as so. Look for it to be in the MS3, GTI, A3, Cooper S, etc. range. From what I can tell, the performance is better than all of the cars I just mentioned. Not to mention there's only one engine option, for now..., and it'll be loaded quite nicely even at the base price. Can't beat the safety measurements taken too.
