...Cops...

Ok first off let me start by saying that I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. Here's some quick background info.... 1) My eyes are ALWAYS VERY GLOSSY 2) I put new air freshners in my car every week at least. and 3) I have tint all the way around my car, but only 20%

Ok here's the story...

Tonight I spent the night with my girl at my house, she lives about twenty mins away from me and so after work (10:00 PM) I picked her up, we went and played some pool then came back here and watched some movies. I took her home at about three thirty in the morning, on the way home I pass a cop who's going in the opposite direction. I was speeding, but only by 5-10mph, certainly nothing outrageous for that time of morning. Anyway I immediatley KNEW he was going to turn around so I slow down and stick to the speed limit. After maybe a minuite I seemhim in my rear view driving extremely fast to catch up. He proceeds to ride right on my ass for about 200 yards until I decide enough is enough. I signal, slow down, and proceed to pull into someones (I have no idea who's house it was) driveway. So the cop continues on and I wait in the driveway for a few mins waiting for him to drive the other way (he was going that way originally and obviously is now going the wrong way) After a few mins I decide to say it and just continue on because I wanna get home. I pull out and stick to the speed limit because he's obviously hiding somewhere up the street. I'm driving along and I see him hiding behind a bush up ahead with ALL his lights off. I drop my windows down before I pass him so he can see without any problem into the car. As soon as I pass him he pulls out and flags me down... here's the conversation...

Officer steps out of the car walks up and says: License and registration
I get everything for him
officer: why'd you pull into that driveway back there
me: well sir, someone came flying up behind me and was riding me so I decided to pull over and let them pass
officer: yea that was me; Have you been drinking tonight?
me: no sir
officer: So why are your eyes glossy
me: they're always glossy sir
officer: Why's your car smell so full of cologne
me: that's a new air freshner sir
officer: you havn't been drinking?
me: no sir
officer: at all?
me: no sir
officer: so you havn't had anything to drink tonight?
me: well I had a mountain dew slurpee about an hour ago?
officer: well I have a machine in my car that can check for alcohol, I'd like you to take the test.
me: fine
officer walks to the car comes back with it. I proceed to pass the test since I havn't touched alcohol all night.
officer: your eyes are very glossy
me: yes sir, they always are
officer: you have anything else in this car?
me: some dirty clothes, want them?
officer: why does it smeel like cologne?
me: that's the air freshner sir.
officer: been smoking anything?
me: no sir i don't smoke
officer: maryjuanna?
me: you have to smoke that right?
officer: yes
me: well your question was do I smoke ANYTHING, my answer was no.
officer: do you have anything in this car that's illegal?
me: no sir, would you like to check?
officer: no, stay here
officer goes back to his car, comes back with a written warning for suspicious activity.
me: why am I recieving a written warning sir?
officer: You can't pull into people's driveways at four in the morning
me: I just thought that would be safer than being ran of the road by a bad driver sir.
officer: well that's why your getting it, goodnight.
me: goodnight.

He then proceeds to drive off.......
ok why are some cops such ass holes..... let's review....
I passed him doing AT MOST 10mph over the limit.... he in turn does at least double the limit to catch me. (violation of law #1) he then proceeds to tailgate (violation #2) parks with his lights completely off (in PA you must at least have driving lights on violation #3) Acts like a complete prick the whole time he's dealing with me. Then speeds off like an (violation #4) People like this should not have the power of having a badge. I am not against cops in any way, but his whole approach to the situation was bull shit. His tone throughout the conversation was so demeening (sp?) He was certain I'd been drinking or doing drugs just because I was a young dude with a modded car! If I would of been a 50 old man driving a cadillac I wouldn't have been bothered! I wish I could of taken his picture when the breathalizer came up negative lol! Sorry for such a long thread.... I really don't care if anyone reads this... I just got home and needed to vent.

Thanks!

What is a "written warning of suspicious activity"?

I certainly hope there is no fine involved, as I find it hard not to
look suspicious when a cop is around, be it me trying to drive
perfect or wondering if THEY think I was trying to drive TOO perfect,
craziness would ensue.

Rule #1 with cops- DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THEM.Seroiusly, this is the #1 thing they look for in operators for possible guilt. If you are driving along and see a cop,do your BEST to ignore them.Just act normal. They are looking for a reaction from you.Don't give it to them.
Rule #2-NO EYE CONTACT.Just keep on doing what you were doing before they came along, unless you ARE doing something illegal.
Rule#3-NO EYE CONTACT. IF they pull you over,do not be argumentative about anything. You will lose and just piss him/her off.Volunteer NO additional imformation other that what they ask you.(You did good on that count)
Rule#4-Don't look away, just DON'T LOOK AT THEM.Seriously,I can't stress this enough.I occasionally ride with the local cops out on patrol and this is the number one tipoff of guilty activity.Don't pull over and slow down.Don't pull into someone elses driveway.Just play innocent and usually you will drive away without problems. It has worked for me for MANY years and I am no angel...

I wonder how many people on here know that in "most" cities, its illegal for an officer to speed to catch you? I know that wont fly, but its the honest truth, in most cities. He was probably mad because he thought he had you and you proved him worng.

He pulled him over because he acted guilty of something, even though he wasn't.Cops look for a fear reaction from people. They are trained to spot unusual or suspicious behavoir.Don't give them a reason to think you are doing anything other than going about your normal, law abiding life.... and don't expect them to follow the rules because they are the authority of enforcement and they know it.Right or wrong, when it is you vs. them out there, they will win.

You did fine, mine. That ticket was written just to prove his D was bigger than yours, that's all. It was a warning beacause he had nothing on you and he knew it.
Next time, just pull down another road and make a slight detour. And the EYE CONTACT thing is dead on. I have several good friends that are cops and they agree with this as well.

The sad things about cops these days? There have always been crappy cops and good cops. I think the balance is, sadly, shifting towards the bad cops. He had nothing better to do. It was 4 AM. I have a friend that delivers papers at night. He gets screwed with all the time.

Just vent here, throw the warning in the trash ( burn it, you"ll feel better ) and go on.
