In the results I just posted, Ford clearly makes the most reliable cars among the domestics. I'm just covering a few models so far, though.

With the 2005, I'm now just three cars short of the minimum needed to get started. Other years also getting close.

Thanks. Now just a single 2005 short of the minimum.

I'm probably going to go ahead and start collecting data on the 2005.

Still a single car short of the minimum, though.

Got that car, thanks. Hopefully I'll have results in November. Depends on how many people participate and respond.

Results for nearly 100 other models next month.

I've been seeing low repair rates for other Ford cars. Hopefully I'll have results for the 2005 in November. Not yet collecting data on any other years, but every year except 2004 (short year?) is now about 2/3 of the way to the minimum needed to get started. So a few more participants could get just about any year over the top.

For the details, and to sign up to help out:

I've had Ford, GM and Audi cars in my driving career. The most reliable thusfar is my Audi but it died an untimely death. For longevity my Taurus SHO takes the cake - 60k with nothing but regular maintenance and 5 starters (most of them were crappy rebuilds that didn't last past 10k).

Why did I just but a focus 2 weeks ago? Price and quality...

I was out the door with a 2,600 mile CPO Focus with a 100k warranty for 240 a month for 48 months. If I wanted a Honda it would be more than that, and a Toyota, even more! No timing belt to change here, and that warranty is key...

Ford knows they have to compete in the small car market and the focus at first was recalled a bunch. 7 years later it's highly improved and I must say, after driving a chevy cobalt, that the focus takes the cake. It felt solid, and well built while the cobalt felt like a cheap piece of plastic.

You can spin the statistics any way you want, but with regular maintenance and oil changes practically any car will be reliable.

I agree, i've owned all GM cars before buying my Focus. I looked at a Cobalt and couldnt stand it, the interior is total junk. It also cost more than my Focus and got worse gas mileage. I'm not a fan of small cars by any means, but I do like the Focus.

I try to add as little spin as possible. Instead, I try to present the results as clearly as possible, so people can perform their own evaluations.
