drove a Z28 today

Today I got to drive my buddies Z28 Camaro, and boy did I realize how slow my Focus is! I have raced him in the past, but I kept blaming my horrible losses on crappy tires or some other BS like that. I did not realize the power that those cars make. The handling was not as bad as I thought it would be because I have heard other small car owners say how crappy the handling was. That thing threw me back in the seat when I floored it or downshifted. I would love to have one, but 1. Im 17 and pretty sure I couldn't be insured at a reasonable rate, and 2. my parents wouldn't have it. I'll just have to wait a couple years to get a truly fast car.

z28's are pretty quick. why don't you just mod your focus and make it faster and handle better, being fast isn't everything you know. Having a car that's fun to drive, like the focus, can sometimes be a lot more enjoyable than pure speed.

I couldnt have said it any better. Stick with the focus man, youll have lots of times when you will realize its worth modding! It just takes time and effort.

even though the handling is not bad with the z28, the focus' handling is better right off the bat, just stock. so enjoy that you can turn circles around the camaro. a buddy has a mustang GT and he envies my handling, haha its about the only thing i have on him.

I was in the same boat that you guys are in before I actually drove one, and truthfully, A crapload of mods and turbo would have to be done to my car before I would be equally as fast as that car. The factory hp and toque specs on these cars are lower than the truth because GM did not want to destroy the Corvette's supreme image. The Camaros made as much power as Corvettes, but they are a helluva lot cheaper. In my opinion, the Camaro is more fun to drive, but that could be due to the lack of curvy roads in Florida. The roads I travel on are straight and flat, so handling is not a big issue where I live. I'm not belittling the Focus, I just prefer fast cars with OK handling over slower cars with excellent handling.

all i have to say is there is no replacement for displacement, and v8's on prove it my girlfriends mom has a 2003 mach 1 and my god is that thing fast, lets just say the tc comes in handy, it still spins the tires going into third with the tc on.

If you're talking about a z28 made within the past ten years, the Focus does'nt come close to handling as well "out of the box". Not even in the same league. The Focus may handle well for an economy car, but come on! When people make statements like this it makes everything else they say less believable. I'm suprised no one is "shocked" the focus is'nt faster than the Z28.
